Diminish - Act I

Respite looms over. You are lost, but will you be found?   I lay there, overhearing the paramedics, the cries of a grieving mother, the wall punctured by a stepfather in disbelief, and the failed attempt at resuscitation. I didn't know how to cry, but I knew now, that just across the wall in front of me was the corpse of my brother in his bedroom. All I felt was an inner outcry, but no matter what, I remained silent and my emotions completely concealed, only serving as the shoulder to cry on for everyone there in the aftermath. My mind has forever tucked itself further in my imaginary worlds, my headspace. Have I truly found closure, or am I forever lost in a rewind of that night? The rust from my frozen chambered heart will one day clear and thaw, revealing a shining hope for the future as my mind reaches a verdict with my trauma and sins.

Sad Memoir: Lost.

Two years of you gone draw near. Two tracks to resemble the heartache and promise.

There are days when I wonder what you'd think of me now. I know you'd be proud of what I am that you couldn't be then and never will be now. But it never feels like enough. I'm always told by everyone in this family to be a better version of themselves; something they couldn't be, something they couldn't have. I hold onto these burdens so I may one day, finally see the bigger picture and for once understand what they meant by being a better version of themselves. I constantly feel ashamed of myself for doing things that I interpret as something they wouldn't want for me, and that you would not expect from me of all people. I wish you could just tell me what the fuck you meant. And yet some God decided they wanted to test me by killing you off after losing my therapist over some corporation bullshit. Too many days go by where I just wanna bash God's fucking head open, and other days where I plead for my dreams of you still here but far from home to be true. I'm such a fucking fool for trying to believe the reality of those dreams. Because when I wake up, and look at that urn of ashes... I just wanna fucking smash it to the ground. I write this as I listen to a piano playing its chords of sorrow and every time I listen to it, I just want to break down in tears and sob. Because every time I hear it, you appear in my mind and I'm reminded how much I fucking hated you and how much I still cared for you. But of course, the tears never come out, all I can do is choke up as I grow hollow with the only push being your words reverberating in my head: "I can't wait to see you grow up to the man I couldn't become." Fuck you for not keeping your word. I wish that urn was just a twisted joke. I'm such a fool, I always have been. If I can't cry, I'll do the one thing I can do for you.

I owe it that much to you, and them. I'm sure you'll do great things out there, so I'll keep my end of the bargain. Until next time, goodnight.
