أصنــام

كانت الدفاتر بيضاء وحياتنا ما بتتغنى،
والراديو يذيع مللنا يا أما خمسة أو خمسين مرة.
لمرّة سمعنا فارس قال لنا نردم معابدنا.
رحنا وعمّرنا له معبد ثاني بمحلّها.

سلّطنا الضوء على وجهه لما طلع حتى يمكسج.
ما شفنا غير خياله إختفى وجهه تحت الوهج،
ويطلع يعزف ليتخيّل حاله بالأفلام،
وإحنا نصدّق حكيُه حتى نبرّر الأصنام.

ْحَـرَفُـوْهْ و رَدَدُوهْ ، قَدَسُـوُهْ ورَتَّـلـُوه

طربنا بحفلاته لما بلش يلعبلنا
الأسرار اللي خربشناها على الحيط بحمّاماتنا.
فسّر الأغنية فصلبناه بخشب المسرح.
كان يكتب من الجوع وما في أكل على المذبح.

Showered with this city’s bullets, I chorused with ghosts
Bathed by traffic lights, I danced our dabkeh
Till i was high on the the marrow of the electric pole,
And i poured tears - neon - on swollen pupils.
Till the fezzes came to take us, to prisons, to castrate us, to make medallions.
But we sewed flags from funeral shrouds (from friends on death row).

IM KOPF (بالراس)

DABAKA is a musical project that brings together Lebanese and Syrian artists around an audio-visual performance. 
 
Revisiting the folkloric dabkeh, a dance and musical practice emerging from the Levantine’s common heritage, the artists joined their passion and talent to reclaim its place within a contemporary context.
 
The project hopes to encourage more dialogue between artists on the cultural scene and to foster a greater understanding of the unique role art can play in bringing people together.
 
DABAKA is funded and supported by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
