“Just because Denseland take inspiration from the past, doesn’t mean they're stuck in it. On their first album since 2017, their second for arbitrary, the Berlin-based trio instead ventures slowly but steadily into unknown territory. Hanno Leichtmann and Hannes Strobl’s dub- infused, bass-heavy rhythmic minimalism in combination with lyricist David Moss’s sonorous yet deadpan delivery opens up a space that feels both claustrophobic and infinitely wide.

Like previous Denseland albums, »Code & Melody« picks up on the sparse side of dub-enamoured post-punk, no wave, post-rock, adventurous electronic and improvised acoustic music and blends this with a vocal performance marked by a Lou Reedian cool, a confrontationalism à la Lydia Lunch and, occasionally, an experimentalism akin to Scott Walker. The result is as unique and ambiguous as the record’s title: Musical formal rigour enters into a dialogue with poetic reflections on the beautiful mess that is the human experience.”

Agartha, Personal Meditation Music is a 7 CD boxed set, originally released on cassette in 1986, at the height of New Age, as an aid for meditation and alignment. Bringing to mind 20th century composers like Eliane Radigue, La Monte Young or even Brian Eno's Shutov Assembly, the time-stopping, enveloping, electronic music contained in this series sounds eerily modern, mysterious and moving. Characterized by deep analog drones, rising overtones, floating frequencies surfing on sine-waves and intervals with mystic modulation, this is truly moving, vibrational music.

In Agartha, the individual notes of each Harmonic Triad proceed in a fashion that is neither improvisational nor chance-based, nor is it generative. Instead the music flows outward as if being transmitted— or channeled — from a place outside human consciousness. There is a profound sense of cosmic depth expanding ever outward as the music fills the listener with waves of emotion, and a palpable somatic response is felt, although there are subtle differences with each unique Triad. 

Each disc is individually packaged in original replica sleeves and housed in a
heavy duty cardboard clamshell box. Digitized and remastered by Jessica Thompson. Liner notes include extensive instructions for use from the original text and an essay by library music scholar David Hollander.

The original edition of Agartha, Personal Meditation Music, featured one track
30 minute track per tape repeated on both sides. Subsequent editions had unique Side B tracks on all but two of the 7 volumes. We have included all tracks in this boxed set.

Last year in September I released the album ‘Quiet Rooms’ on the British label Whitelabrecs. The tracks on this album were a kind of self-healing process to refocus on home life after a long absence caused by working far away. At that time I was making a lot of improvised music and recording many ideas and sketches. After selecting the tracks for ‘Quiet Rooms’, some ideas, feelings, blurred images and unfinished tracks remained, which later became a solid base for ‘All Our Yesterdays’. Over the course of 2024, more recordings were made and - voilà - a new album was born.

'All Our Yesterdays' is probably a bit more introspective, exploring the spaces between the notes in a much deeper and broader way. So each track is quite transparent in atmosphere and sound, with piano notes, electronic textures and strange sounds drifting in and out. As always, all was recorded mainly at night in dim lighting to focus on what's important to me and my music. ‘All Our Yesterdays’ could be seen as a metaphor for missed moments on the one hand and great moments with the people you love on the other. Deep contemplation with a sense of serenity and balanced stillness - some things don't change...

The cover picture was taken in autumn at a nearby lake, when everything was already prepared and waiting for winter.

While being mostly recognized for his organic blend of club music arrangements, “Galerie” emphasises a focus on field recordings, textures and striped-down abstraction. Over the course of 8 tracks Perko builds small worlds of tangible ambience and horizons of amiable beauty. The sense of ebb and flow throughout “Galerie” gives it a sense of contemplative weightlessness and the perception of mild sun glittering blindness.
