"Flood Plains" taken from Boomgates' debut album 'Double Natural' out on Bedroom Suck.

Boomgates started as a couple of friends having a loose Thursday evening sing and strum on the couch. It felt good. So more friends were invited along to the sporadic jam sessions. It soon became obvious that this crew were now a proper band in their own right. Something like a mix of Big Star, Camper Van Beethoven, Towns Van Sant, The Velvet Underground, The Church and probably a heap of something else thrown in on top, Boomgates boasts members of Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Twerps, Dick Diver and about a million other awesome projects. Double Natural is their first long player.

The man who has been referred to as Burial 2.0, Alex Frolov of Syktyvkar, Komi Republic, Russia delivers us a complete, 20-track long, intensely introspective album, possibly his finest work to date. 

Sabo is laden with familiar bittersweet moods made of crisp, dancy garage breaks paired with artfully constructed soundscapes as fragile as glass that Volor peels back until they break apart and fade away. All twenty tracks enclose the darnkess of the boreal forest, the harshness of the tundra, the anxiousness of isolation, the solace of being lost in thought and the memories of a loved one. Volor Flex adds a new expanse to the timeless comfort area that he's been building and has now completed, a place of relief and daydreaming the listener will repeatedly want to come back to.

Kscope are pleased to announce the signing of Se Delan, the latest band to join the label’s roster. Se Delan are a duo made up of Justin Greaves, the multi-instrumentalist leader of Crippled Black Phoenix, and Belinda Kordic on vocals, a Swedish singer who previously recorded as Killing Mood.

Greaves initially came to prominence as drummer with seminal sludge metal act Iron Monkey and went on to form Crippled Black Phoenix in 2004. CBP has since been the sole focus of his musical output, recording seven albums, embarking on countless tours and working with a host of different artists.

Se Delan’s debut album The Fall feels distinct from anything Greaves has worked on before. The duo have shared the writing duties on the album, with Justin making the music and Belinda creating the words and vocals. The combination of shared influences (‘music, film and life’) and a mutual understanding of the way each other works has resulted in a beguiling and haunting album.

So I think when Wilson slows people down, it gives you a chance to watch them moving through space. And there's something to be said for slowing down the world."

Carlos Hernandez is the son of a ’70s New York soul DJ. After a detour playing in punk and noise projects, he returned to his soul roots and formed Ava Luna, a band of two girls and four guys, to explore a sound that combines all those ideas.

In the band’s hazy, floaty, post-TVOTR-maybe conceit, post-punk grooves, soaring soul harmonies, and classic indie detachment join forces for something beautiful, infectious, and damn-near indescribable. The twisted brainchild of Carlos Hernandez, the son of a soul DJ and occasional producer of bands like Fucked Up, Ava Luna is the sum of a lot of somehow congruous parts. The minimal drums/bass/synth lineup kicks out the most skeletal of Ze Records-era post-punk/nu-funk; a chorus made up of three backing singers add a razor-sharp doo-wop lilt; the sweat-soaked Hernandez is up front stirring-soul like Jamie Liddell or a James Chance for the Misshapes age.”
