When my wife was pregnant with our first son, a pregnancy app we used to track the progress at one point said that he was the size of a big strawberry. That little piece of information made me super happy and inspired me to make the piece Big Strawberry, which is featured on my last album. 'Raspberry' is inspired by a similar moment. When my wife got pregnant again back last winter, I decided to make a piece of music for our second son. When it was finished, I turned to the very same app to see how big he was at that point, and a raspberry showed up on the screen 💫 

These days, my wife is super pregnant( like watermelon-size-pregnant!), so the little guy might join us any day now. ❤️

Raspberry is a slow ambient piece with a soft felt piano moving through a sphere of immersive synth-pads, and calming, soft rain-sounds.

For today's exclusive track premiere, I am featuring a piece from the second volume of music by a UK trio called Quiet Places, consisting of Dennis White, Charlie May, and Dave Gardner. Their debut release, appropriately titled Volume 1, showed up on my radar back in 2020 [has it really been that long?] by way of Ryan Griffin's meticulously curated A Strangely Isolated Place imprint, the output of which I consistently and hungrily consume. As is foreshadowed with the title, we are now gifted with Volume 2 of this group's creations, featuring four long-players, each taking up an entire side on this gorgeous marbled 2x12" release [the piece you are hearing today is not on the album, and is a digital-only special bonus track]. As I described the first volume three years ago, the swirling atmospheres in a haze-inducing daydream,  the humming synth pads with the layers built upon each one, and the kaleidoscope of sampled snippets are back again in Volume 2 to snatch me back from this reality and drop me into times when Boards of Canada, Global Communication and The Future Sound of London soundtracked my days. On their latest for ASIP, the trio once again command the sonic artistry and deep knowledge of the stylistic snapshots that are stitching up my memories into a cohesive whole. This is a welcome escape from the bombardment of the "usual", a future flashback into the past of the present, a twist in the fabric of space where time becomes a loop.

...samo moram da se ispraznim, da izbacim sve iz sebe. Ne znam zašto sam ovakav. Zašto uvek ja oteram ljude od sebe, samo zato što ih ne razumem... sve previše analiziram, previše razmišljam, i na kraju ostanem sam. Uvek sve upropastim.

Možda sam stvarno ja taj koji povređuje druge... možda sam ja taj koji je naneo više bola nego što bi iko drugi mogao... možda sam pogrešio misleći da sam dobra osoba... oterao sam sve, čak i one iz detinjstva... naizgled sam srećan, ali iznutra stojim na ivici, ivici da padnem zauvek, da otupim, da se ohladim...

Ljudi mi kažu da prestanem toliko da brinem, da se pitam zašto mi je toliko stalo... možda su u pravu... možda stvarno ne treba da mi bude stalo ovoliko... možda sam ja problem... možda sam samo neko ko tera ljude od sebe, a onda sedi i plače pitajući se zašto su otišli...

Problem sam ja... i mislim da postoji samo jedno rešenje... hladnoća... možda me i moja preterana briga i moje ponašanje guraju da odbijam ljude od sebe... možda je to ceo odgovor...

Pokušavam da pričam s ljudima... ali niko ne odgovara... oni koji i odgovore brzo izgube živce i samo nestanu... ostave poruku koja zaboli gore nego metak... probode pravo u srce... možda treba da ubijem taj deo sebe, tu brigu, tu potrebu da razumem i da mi je stalo... možda jednostavno... meni i jeste suđeno da budem sam...

potreban mi je zagrljaj :(
