Artist and composer Martina Lussi delivers the latest OK submission, featuring a swirling array of sonic ambience, previously un-heard original field recordings all tinged with blissful electronics.

Martina released Off-Kilter all time favourite album 'Diffusion Is a Force' on Parisian label Latency (Laurel Halo, Tirzah, Lafawndah, Moor Mother) so it's a great pleasure to welcome her to the platform with this stunning and haunting sound scape.

Martina Lussi creates musical compositions, presents installations and performs live in various contexts. Her artistic practice is based around the act of listening. Her compositions incorporate field recording, synthesized sounds and voice. Through a variety of sonic material she creates broad soundscapes.

Her latest Album „Balance“ was released digitally on September 3, 2021 and on vinyl in May 2022 by Präsens Editionen. 

She holds a Master of Arts in Contemporary Arts Practice and lives and works in Lucerne, Switzerland.

The fourth episode in the Field Recordings series was recorded in the Balkans in the summer of 2022.

All sounds for this episode are recorded in the versatile fields of Albania, Bosnia, Montenegro and Slovenia. From Sarajevo’s Olympic Bobsleigh to the Cursed Mountains in Albania and back via the small peaceful village Miholjače in Bosnia to the beautiful Kamnik-Savinja Alps in Slovenia. The ambient layers on top are recorded in my studio in Rotterdam.

The colors of the cover artwork are chosen by Rutger Zuydervelt.

Rutger Zuydervelt composes music as Machinefabriek. His music combines elements of ambient, noise, minimalism, drone, field recordings and electro-acoustic experiments. The music can be heard as an attempt to create sonic environments for the listener to dwell in. It can be minimalistic at first glance, but reveals its depth upon closer listening.

For fans of the music that we promote Roel Funcken probably needs little introduction. A legend in his own right with releases dating back more than 23 years on labels such as n5MD, Ad Noiseam, Schematic, Analogical Force and his own imprints. Roel was also the organiser of the Mindcamp events in The Netherlands that featured the best IDM artists and is one of our biggest heroes and a true inspiration. Roel Funcken officially popped up on the scene in 2010, with his solo debut, titled Vade, out on Ad Noiseam. But fans of electronic music, and IDM in general, have been tracking this Dutch musician for over a decade prior, when, along with his brother, Don, the duo has released some of the genre defining music on labels such as Djak-Up-Bitch, Schematic, Sublight Records, Neo Ouija, n5MD , Arcola (Warp) as the one and only Funckarma. In 2009 the Funcken brothers kicked off their very own, digital-only, Funcken Industry imprint, which hosted a few of their other projects and offshoots, such as Shadow Huntaz, Scone, Quench, Automotive, and the latest from Roel's solo works. Roel continues to influence the evolution of music through numerous releases (Sapper Morton on Analogical Force, Semtinal Convex on Methlab and Prester Hynn on his own imprint to name a few) and active engagement in the community, with music festival curation, mixes on mixlr and soundcloud and weekly playlists on Soundcloud and spotify. Roel's music is advanced in sound design, often incorporating unique experimentation in electronic sound, with cut-up, twisted, atmospheric sonic soundscapes, leaving the cranium always begging for more. His ambient textures maintain a cinematic quality throughout, while his percussive arrangements retain a constantly mutating framework, always reconstructing its rhythm and structure, contradicting complex configurations and minimal design. It's always a pleasure to taste the latest treat from this aural engineer, and find the latest gem in his never-ending arsenal of sound.
