South Africa's Dirkie Coetzee and Namibia's Pierre Pienaar are not only great friends but also musical brothers and are about to perform a joint Open-to-Close at Dirkie's club night We Are Trance in Johannesburg at time of writing! They share a love of driving and uplifting trance music, so this collaboration is exactly what you'd expect and hope for - soaring melodies, pounding beats and plenty of euphoria. In case you were wondering, the title is a Fijian word that means 'to bring life' or 'to bring fire'.

Talla 2XLC is an expert on reworking trance classics and bring them up to date for the new generation of trance lovers. His brand new Technoclub Retro release is his collaboration with DJ Buzz for the seminal track Whales. The original track released on Poison records back in 1998 was co-produced by the legendary Torsten Stenzel who is behind countless trance classics. Talla 2XLC adds his pounding tough metallic kick, rough energetic driving basslines and thunderous percussion while on top at the first half he teases us with short extracts of the unforgettable melody. The breakdown is long and atmospheric with sea waves, warm airy pads, orchestral strings and whales cry sound effects that considered to be deeply therapeutic for the troubled human souls to listen and relax for a while until Talla 2XLC unleashes the memorable riff all over the place that still evokes so much emotion and captures our imagination. It’s definitely one of those melodies that easily carry you away without any effort and make you really happy and optimistic even if you feel that nothing in your life is going as you wish to be. The perfect escape within an ocean of sound waves is the perfect remedy to uplift your spirit and feel the joy of music by being peaceful and full of love and care for each other. The drop is euphoric as you can expect with melodies, harmonies, euphoric synths and melody progression giving you endless amounts of goosebumps and happiness. Talla 2XLC once again respects greatly the original by making fantastic use of little details that truly make the difference for the listener. Colombia native Giorgio Phoenix returns to Bonzai Progressive with the impressive Times EP. We first got a glimpse of this guy back at the start of 2016 with his debut Hypnagogia which proved quite popular indeed. While a mysterious character his superb talents are evident and we're delighted to see him back once again.

Good Times brings a wonderful retro themed progressive slice for our listening pleasure. The intro boasts a classic chunky kick and percussion combi which breaks fleetingly to bring in that deep grooving bassline that hypnotizes the mind with its pulsing rhythm. Fantastic retro synth chord stabs are front and centre for this one, captivating and mesmerizing as they're filtered and modulated into superb patterns. Excellent stuff once again from Giorgio, not to be missed.

Dark Times goes deep right from the off as a nice punchy kick drum and crispy hi hat lead the way alongside a deep rumbling bassline that lurks menacingly on the low end. The bass slowly fades up becoming more prominent to dominate the deep progressive groove. Darker elements ease into the groove creating a great depth in the sound while on the break a dark synth line begins its journey to the abyss. Top notch, deep and dark, one for the late night floors here.
