Obtuse Swamp's second ecosystem "Hadal Biocenosis" is the result of two years of sonic exploration by Leipzig-based artist Kontinum. Moving from conventional techno to a more bass-oriented sound, he left his comfort zone and experimented with unusual grooves and textures for this release. The EP is rounded off by two remixes from french dub expert Són du Maquís and fellow Leipzig producer Esgeem.

Echoes From a Black Transmission drifts in like a signal caught in decay: seven tracks that shift through eroded textures, low-lit atmospheres, and rhythms worn down by time. Each piece feels like a message intercepted mid-collapse, a transmission from the edge of something ending. A sense of change is tangible, like the end of a season or a slow fading of light. It’s music for that moment when something familiar disappears, and a new, stranger atmosphere takes its place.
There’s a tension between precision and entropy throughout the record. Glitches become pulses, synthetic tones stretch into fog, and structures dissolve into residue. Rather than build toward resolution, the tracks remain suspended, looping in their own gravitational field. Sound becomes sediment.
