Jensen Interceptor with Ten Years Lost - 16 August 2022

Last February, you may have remembered Soria opening our launch party back in Hen’s Teeth, and now for the sixth in our mix series we are beyond words with delight to present to you this dreamy hour-long selection by the Dublin-based DJ and producer.  A recent graduate of the sculpture department at the National College of Art and Design, Soria is an incredible creative whose deeply considered process and output transcends artistic category.  Alongside her fine art practice, she is a ray of light within Dublin's nightlife as a beloved and prolific selector and producer.   Having played a vast range of venues and nights in Dublin including Strawberries (of which she recently became a resident DJ), Yamamori Tengu and Wigwam for Club Comfort amongst others as well as recently playing at Nick Libra’s performance piece 'Anatomy of Night' for Dublin Fringe Fest, Soria is a versatile and experienced live performer.   Her sets hit a deep emotive core that fuse with a playfulness and irreverence, epitomising both the sensitivity and radiant humour of Soria herself.  Capturing a transitional period from the hedonism of the summer into the cool breeze of Autumn this mix invites you to one last burst of pleasure in the sun.  Expect hypnotic vocals and bouncy trance beats. This one is special.

006 - SORIA

'Nothing but pleasure' is how x3butterfly describes their approach to our 150th mix - a fun, bubbly session filled with shimmering house and UKG cuts. 

Based in NYC, x3butterfly has lived a pretty nomadic lifestyle, moving between Detroit, California, Europe and NYC. Before the x3butterfly we see today, the project has had many iterations - cocooning and shapeshifting in different forms inspired by their teachings at Calarts, the industrial sounds of Throbbing Gristle and Coil, drag shows and club nights in Berlin, and the sounds of the UK and Detroit. Whilst in Berlin, x3butterfly explored live performance art, bringing their spoken word and dance practice to the club space and due to their performance on HÖR a few years ago, they have since broken through as a DJ with standout gigs in Mexico, Germany, Denmark, Greece, as well as a multitude of cities in the US. Now a rising star within NYC's club fixture where they say their 'career has never been better', x3butterfly recently performed for Boiler Room, played at events with the likes of Kaytranada, VTSS, AceMo and has released an upcycled gender fluid collaboration with Official Rebrand.

With the power of word-of-mouth, Urwaxx has via strictly chosen releases slowly been getting the recognition it deserves and by proxy, so has Greenwald. We’re happy to have him on-board with his 1h mix, showcasing his signature sound, and with that help to spread the word.

Tbilisi's community space/nightclub Left Bank celebrates its second anniversary with the launch of a new label and a compilation full of wildly diverse electronic music.

The debut release titled "Stop What You're Doing." contains thirteen unreleased songs from artists who are friends and affiliates of the club. Bruce, Pavel Milyakov, HVL, Sam Goku, Esi, James Bangura, Eoin DJ, Sportsmanship, Maja, Vod Kasat, Wesley Wise, and Dali.

"Stop What You’re Doing" will be released on October 20th, coinciding with Left Bank’s birthday part

"I aimed to blend my cultural roots, as always, and my passion for electronic music — creating a musical journey that resonates with contemporary expression using soundscapes and traditional percussive sounds. I wanted to take things to a dark room in a club at 3:AM with heavy beats, driving basslines, and sonic Arabic sounds.
