The Naarm (Melbourne) and Berlin-based agency has built a community of DJs, producers and performers from the Australian and European regions, and now is the time to unveil the cutting-edge sounds resonating out of the community.

Overflowing with 17 tracks, this release is a snapshot of the unique energy that thrives on dancefloors, where boundary-pushing sounds come to life. It’s stacked with club-ready bangers and euphoric anthems from the Weaver family and friends. Whether you’re warming up the crowd, peaking at midnight, or deep in the after-hours, there’s something here for every moment. This release isn't just a showcase of talent; it's a celebration of the collective spirit that drives underground music forward.

Expect bass-driven breaks from Ekzander, Sniper1, Monfreaq and Subsism, as well as Wretla’s euphoria-inducing garage. Pacey tech from Simrana and AWHM, with DJ Huntsman taking the hypnotic tip. BADEO, Basscamp, suki, Jeku and Anderson keep the flow grooving with their prog house and minimal percussion, while Desire, Lex, Cybernet and Azo provide the high energy peak-time delicacies.

50% of profits from the release will be split evenly between Pay The Rent (Australia) and the MA’AN Development Centre (Gaza).

@ephemeral_objects is an interdisciplinary artist, DJ, VJ based on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, also known as Vancouver, Canada. She is half of i+eo an audio/visual duo project with IHA. She is also a resident of Acceleration Radio. True to her name, her visual creations carry this sense of ethereality, focusing on textures and organic forms, both ephemeral and suspended in time at once. ephemeral objects has created music videos for forward-thinking electronic music producers and labels, such as Mood Hut and NAGA. In 2024, she was invited as one of ten emerging Canadian artists to participate in MUTEK Montréal's first Incubator program.

We are so excited to present our 32nd entry into our PPRZ Podcast series by ephemeral objects! Dive into this hour + of deep, textured and thoughtfully selected techno. 

ephemeral objects is a DJ, VJ, music producer, digital and video artist based on unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Nations (Vancouver, Canada). She has created music videos for forward-thinking Canadian electronic music producers and labels, such as Mood Hut and NAGA. She has performed visuals at influential music venues and festivals throughout British Columbia. ephemeral objects is also half of i+eo an a/v project with IHA, and a resident of Acceleration Radio. Her love of dance music and interest in DJing started in childhood in the late 90s and early 2000s when she stayed up late religiously watching Electric Circus on MuchMusic, the legendary Canadian live dance music show. One of her earliest electronic music purchases was Eiffel 65’s Europop album in grade 4 from HMV in Metrotown, Burnaby, which laid the groundwork for a lifelong appreciation of techno and its various permutations. It wasn’t until recently after finishing graduate school that she revisited and indulged in her interest in DJing, which is now a creative outlet that brings her fulfilment and joy.

My process/mix
This mix captures the type of techno that I deeply appreciate and a space I want to stay in for a while. I love the intentional listening aspect that comes with mixes. I tend to start with ambient/experimental as foreplay for listeners. The mix gradually gets faster, ending with one of my favourite techno-trance tunes that feels like a homage to the early 2000s. I approach DJing similarly to how I approach VJing: psychedelic, hypnotic, euphoric, paying special attention to details, and layering of textures. The beauty of DJing is sculpting moments where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. For me, this is achieved through looping, long blends, and complementing different phrases of tracks. I recorded this mix at home with a DJJ-FLX10 using four decks. Although I mostly mix with three, I use the extra deck to quickly cue the next track to sustain momentum.

I carefully think about the music that I play. I believe that who we choose to play is a vote for who we want to see in music. For this reason, I strive to curate sets to ensure a diverse representation of people, especially producers and labels by femmes and people of colour. Lately, I have been excited by producers and labels from across the Pacific and from the diaspora, which is exemplified in this mix. Big shoutout to Lord Loubbit and CTAFAD for sharing their unreleased music with me. In a small way, I aspire to add more representation in the space of techno that I love, so that others who are also queer, femme, and come from immigrant refugee backgrounds can see themselves in it too. ephemeral objects is a DJ, VJ, producer, digital and video artist based on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Nations (Vancouver, Canada). Having diasporic Chinese-Vietnamese heritage and a MA in Anthropology, showcasing underrepresented producers and labels is an important value that drives the intentionality of her selections. Her mixes are smooth, textural, and lush, and have been showcased on platforms, such as Shy People, PPRZ, and vaivén onírico.

She is also an Acceleration Radio resident, an open format FM radio, live stream, and events collective focusing on A/V experimentation, which showcases the diverse and emerging talents from Vancouver's underground scene. Additionally, ephemeral objects has created music videos for forward-thinking Canadian electronic music producers and labels, such as Mood Hut and NAGA.

This mix is her foremost exploration into the realms of techno, jungle, dub, bass, and breaks.
