Meditation Hour Ep 3: Bex - May 30th, 2021

Hailing from Christchurch, New Zealand, Hansdown has spent the last year 5 years establishing her electronic bass style within Melbourne’s dynamic music scene.

 As a member of the Christchurch based Futurebeat crew, she left a solid mark on the Christchurch club scene alongside Melbourne’s hip hop DJ Thanks and MC/DJ team Prophet & Guillotine, as well as Andy Humm and DJ FLOAT.

While holding down a weekly residency at local cocktail bar MINX, Hansdown frequently spun records at Double Happy, Graffiti White, Concrete Club, and The Bedford, where she supported world renowned English dubstep producer and DJ, RUSKO, during his 2011 Australasian tour.

After finding a home away from home in the form of a residency at Melbourne’s legendary Efiftyfive, Hansdown has gone on to become an integral member of Melbourne’s booming Bass Scene. 
Playing regular spots at some of the best bars in the city including Howler, Section 8, Workshop, Mr Wow’s Emporium, Bimbos and Black Cat she has also caught the attention of Melbourne’s Infamous Operatives Crew playing on the bill for their We Are Ten celebration alongside some of the best international DJ’s & Producers, the likes of Mark Pritchard, Sampology, Koreless and Sango. 

In more recent years, Hansdown has settled back into her hometown of Christchurch, where she enjoys playing eclectic sets comprising anything from hiphop, reggae, electronica, house, bass, footwerk, grime and dubstep.

Abarajame is a vinyl detective. As he digs deeper, one record often organically leads to the next. He is always willing to jump between genres and rhythms with total freedom, from elusive atmospheres to asteroids and stardust packed roads. He loves action, he loves risk, but above all he loves the narrative that exists when playing two overlapped records: a science fiction short story.
