Good morning Lars 😊

➢ Tell us what song puts you in a good mood when you wake up in the morning?

 That varies immensely, its rarely anything electronic though, although i have been making a playlist lately, with old classics (in my opinion) with vocals, like Stimming - Close the curtains, Dapayk & Padberg - Island feat. Caro (Nôze Remix)… these really sets my mood at top level :). Or else its more traditional songs and can be anything from Norah Jones to radiohead and everything in between.

➢ Disfunctional Disco is a great name. Tell us the history about how it became your artist alias?

Uffff, that is an old story, to cut it short, we were sitting at an afterparty…..MANY MANY years ago, and in our godlike knowledge mode(as you know you achieve at afterparties), we were trying to redefine the term house music, and my best bid was, thats it basically started out as “Disfunctional Disco”, and it stuck ever since.

➢ You co-manage the label @sofa-beats-1 . Give one piece of advice you have learnt running Sofa Beats to someone who is looking to start their own music label?

DONT DO IT…hahaha, no im kidding. Be sure its not just a vanity project, you have to bring true value to yourself and the artist involved, and by that i mean, get involved, read about rights, royalities and all the boring legal stuff, be professional from the start, that is i think the most important thing…be professional from the start.

➢ Since the pandemic it has been difficult time for the music scene, how has it changed in Denmark and what do you think will be different when things return to a certain “normality”?

Its such a difficult question to answer, in copenhagen the clubs have suffered hard, and have been forced to look into fundraising etc. to survive, thats the biggest impact, that our clubscene is hit really hard, and to be honest its hard to say if they will survive at all. When society opens up(its happening now actually), im not sure we’ll see big changes to be honest, people will take the necessary precautions to get to a party, slowly the restrictions will fade to normal, Pirate parties will reign supreme in the beginning, but i think in a year or so, we will be back to were we were just before the pandemic.

➢ Lastly, regarding this mix you have done for us, can you tell us a little bit of your thought process behind choosing the tracks you chose?

Im spoiled in the promo department, so i always try to put in something i know few people have heard yet, i usually start to collect tracks 2-3 weeks prior to a podcast or mix, then i play around with the material, checking keys and transitions, then i usually get angry cause i think its sound like shit:)….then ill get a few more tracks, maybe even a classic tune, play around some more, until i dance around like a mania…then i know its there :)

It is said that hard times can forge a hard work ethic. For me, this is certainly the case. My first synthesizer was a Casio SA-20, and the 100 sound banks that it came with were enough to capture bring my attention towards music. Coming from the time of a severe economic crash in Serbia, as many of people in my country, we struggled for a better life, while learning the ins and outs of music production on my humble windows xp home computer. Over the years, i refined my approach, and my project “Jelly For The Babies” moniker pioneers what i call the “candy flavored sound.” Jelly For The Babies project was created in 2007th. Whole project is based mostly on deep, melodic and melancholic sounds with plenty of vocals mixed up in various genres of electronic music. Beside producing i am managing three labels, distributed by Proton, One Of A Kind, The Purr Music and RYNTH. List of supporter increases in addition to names such as Mendo, H.O.S.H., Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, atish, Nick Warren, Eelke Kleijn, Way Out West, Mark Knight, Oliver Schories, Darin Epsilon. Three times selected and charted by DJ Mag Latin America and DJ Mag Espana.

We're excited to present the next Foxcast by Brooklyn-based Bedouin. Tamer Malki and Rami Deejay (Abousabe) are staples on the East Coast, with longstanding residencies in Boston and New York City, separately honing the craft alongside the scene's most recognizable names. When they joined together as a production and DJ duo, the sum of their parts led to something on another level.

Their productions speak for themselves: boasting  releases on Supernature and Get Physical, All Day I Dream and Kindisch, but it's their DJ sets that speak to their complex style and sensibilities; winning over new fans one event at a time. As only their second released set, this Foxcast is deep and groovy, simultaneously brooding and sultry. 10 Years ago I was invited to play on this bus called Robot Heart by my good friend Swamy at Burning Man.  We were on the bus and I remember it would continuously break down but we didn't care because we were a bunch of friends doing this for the love of music and we had no idea this bus would become the magical Robot Heart bus that we all have come to love the past ten years.  Every year my set at Robot Heart has become one of  the most integral parts of my journey at Burning Man.  This is my gift to the playa and to each one of you and it comes straight from my heart.  We come to Burning Man to search about humanity and love and to be good to others around us and the bus helps us deliver this message through our music. Thank you Robot Heart, Geo, Swamy, Robert, Benjamin and everyone on that bus that puts so much effort throughout the year to make sure that bus brings so much love to our community!
