Shay De Castro is one of the most thrilling techno talents emerging from the United States, known for her high-energy, peak-time sound that merges relentless intensity with melodic depth. With releases on some of the most respected techno labels - including Factory 93, Kraftek, Respekt, and mau5trap - and support from Amelie Lens, Adam Beyer, ANNA, and Richie Hawtin, she is carving out her own lane in modern techno with a fierce commitment to artistic authenticity.
A self-made artist from Boise, Idaho - far from the world’s techno capitals - Shay’s rise has been one of pure passion, perseverance, and a unique sonic identity. Inspired by the euphoria of trance and the raw power of peak-time techno, she developed a signature style that balances ferocity with emotion, captivating audiences worldwide.
Shay’s latest work, “Unclose Me” (out on Kraftek), is a collaboration with Pleasurekraft. A poetic, borderline-romantic techno piece, it reflects Shay’s deep connection to literature and lyricism, and showcases her ability to channel raw emotion into the dancefloor. It marks another step forward in her evolution as a bold, genre-defining storyteller in techno.
Her breakthrough moment came with the release of “Memento” on Factory 93, which soared to #18 on the Beatport Techno charts and was featured on the label’s Best of 2023 compilation, placing her alongside artists like Space 92 and Nicole Moudaber. She’s also earned support slots for Eli Brown’s U.S. tour, and her dynamic performances have lit up stages at Amsterdam Dance Event, Beyond Wonderland, and top clubs across Europe, the Americas, and the U.S., including Exchange LA, Superior Ingredients NYC, and Tanzhaus West.
Shay’s music regularly finds its way into the sets of techno’s biggest names, played at festivals like Tomorrowland, Awakenings, and Time Warp. Her powerful, groove-driven productions have earned her repeat signings on labels like Respekt Recordings, while her remix work - such as her 2024 collaboration on Kiesza’s “I Go Dance” - has expanded her reach beyond traditional techno audiences.

I.	Intro
Born in Camarillo, CA and raised in East Las Vegas, NV, Focus accidentally stumbled into the dance scene in early 2000.  His discovery inspired him to explore trance and house music for three years playing records in his home studio. Feeling confident in his skills to DJ outside of his own four walls, Focus began performing at house parties and small underground warehouse events. In 2004, a breakthrough for a larger event crowned Focus as a resident DJ under Terra-Productions. His talents would soon launch this rising star into infamous venues, events and musical outlets expanding his notoriety as a DJ; thereafter, incorporating producer and remixer into his resume.

II.	The Rapture
From an eclectic mix of progressive house, techno to trance, Focus executes his transitions effortlessly illustrating versatility in his music. Focus captures the essence of house music by inducing emotional triggers. His fusion of genres creates an element of surprise ranging from interchanging syths to deep moving basslines. Focus’ integration of intense climaxes and drops takes you through a journey into the depths of deep, dark techno  to the heights of melodic trance and everything in between. Focus’ technique is distinctive and houses an assortment of groundbreaking, pulsating rhythms. 

III.	Gigs & Events
December 2005 launched Focus out of house parties and into the big league of premiere clubs. Focus has caused uproar on the dance floors of Seven, Glo, Empire, Icehouse Lounge, House of Blues, Barcode and many more. He continues to empower house music in nightclubs such as: Palm’s Moon Nightclub and Ghostbar, New York New York’s Rok Nightclub and Mandalay Bay’s Foundation Room. Focus has graced the EDM scene with the likes of: Thee-o, Dj Dan, Donald Glaude, Mark Knight, Spektre, Halo (halo & Hippie, H-Foundation), Uberzone, Jason Splatt, Dj Swamp, Frankie Bones, Desert Dwellers, Dj Rectangle,  Miguel Migs, Kaskade, Mark Farina, Mars, Mystere, Starkillers, Reid Speed, Jon Bishop, Mea, The Crystal Method, and many more. In 2008, Focus expanded his musical outlet in his very own, two year long mix show through Las Vegas’ dance-electronic radio station (94.5 The Vibe). The success of his mix show featured international DJs and local heavy hitters such as Mark One and Henotic, who is signed to Pete Tong’s record label. The widespread recognition of Focus’ music has catapulted him beyond Nevada to perform at various electronic events in California, Arizona and Utah.

IV.	The Forecast
Currently, Focus has been producing and remixing tracks with his partner in crime Michael Scalar under the duo name Audiovana. His eccentric house/trance styling has proven to be a force to be reckoned with. The journey thus far not only symbolizes his accomplishments and success in the music industry, but marks the beginning of a broader horizon for Focus’ future in music. Focus’ continual dedication and persistence keeps him striving towards his ultimate goal, “To move people though my music and to travel around the world sharing it”.
