Although the popular version of Crazy Dreams from the 1981 cd Hard Station was built on a demo begun in Dec 79, this different recording from 1980 was the first version ever released. Recorded in London s Olympic Studios in the summer of that year by John Wood and mixed by Brian Masterson at Windmill Lane it was released as a single that October to accompany the first Paul Brady Band tour of Ireland and was a hit in Ireland. Featuring Peter Van Hooke on drums, Mark Isham on Flugelhorn, Billy Livesy on piano and Mo Foster on bass, it always seemed a little too fast to me and when it came to recording the album I went back to re-work the original demo for the album which cam out the following spring.
