We started to compile ‘The Many’ compilation after June 2020, in the wake of horrific world events in May - the murder of George Floyd. 
Our idea was to find worthy things we can do for others. 
Realising that what happened to George and many others transpired in 2020. This has been persisting at the hands of authorities for so many decades and longer, Rodney King, Breonna Taylor, Stephen Lawrence, Mark Duggan. It’s disgusting.

We want to use our privilege and platform, the label, to do some good
100% of revenue from this compilation will be split equally to the following 4 charities:

Levon Vincent - Counter-Intelligence Programs

As sunny days reappear and bright flashes of optimism reverberate around the globe, along comes London based producer Kempston Hardwick with a killer five track garage-house release on Lobster Theremin that is crying out to be played in the park over some beers. 

With a more UK-centred approach than his previous work on SITU Records, Kempston Hardwick has captured the ‘better days are coming’ energy and bottled it into four wicked cuts of subtle grooves and deep wobblers.

The early evening groove of ‘Mowbray Street’ bounces into the frame with its playful melodies and sunny aesthetic; bopping and swaying in the fading sunlight. The oxymoronic patterns of harsh and melodic clash on ‘Channel’ as day turns to night; jackin’ rhythms and repetitive pads that create a real sense of inner-groove. 

Big breaks and carnival flavour are the orders of the day on ‘Provoke Iddy’ as Kempston flexes his versatility, before arriving at ‘Have You Stopped It’ - a wobbling melter that takes the very best of contemporary bassline and blends it with the fun energy of the transatlantic Vancouver and Montreal crews for some proper euphoric screwface moments.

Wrapping things up is the electro-laced 2-step of ‘Apologies to 25’ - a cut of distorted garage beamed from disco robots on a not-so-distant galaxy. Kempston Hardwick’s Mowbray Street EP might be the artist's most complete work yet, and it couldn’t be arriving at a better moment.

A bumper package of jazz-inflected grooves from Berlin-raised Italian Dr Sud aka Gregorio Marigliano and associated remixers, with house and techno intersecting neatly into broken beat flavours for maximum originality and danceability.  His own original version of ‘Breakfast Sun’ opens proceedings, with infectious Latin-edged rhythms adding to a nicely pacey groove and touches of jazzy keys in all the right places.  Then it’s handed to Turbojazz & Broke One to reshape it on slightly more robust, sturdy terms, adding Detroit-style synth stabs and some nicely circular arps, before Gary Superfly’s mix leans further towards techno with a 4/4 thump and plenty of UR-style soulful futurism.  ‘Desert Wind’ ups the percussion factor even further, putting exotic beats at the sonic centre of another very playable track, before the Reekee Alternate Mix closes things with subtly goading Rhodes chords and a garage-y rhythmic swagger.  Just what the Doctor ordered!

We’ve been showered with big names premiere lately at Bolting Bits, and while we appreciate all this heat sometimes a bit of fresh air is more than welcome.
Meet Sean Thomas, producer of the fourth release on the Australian label OTIS, back at it after having released Otis001. We’ll advise that you keep them all on your radars.

Hate it or love it summer is almost done, beach parties with a prosseco in your hand is always a great thing but we at BT think it’s time to bring the intensity, the urgency, of partying back up a notch. We miss the sweat dropping from the ceiling in the haze of it all. Let’s go deep.

The ep opens with Crew Cut, a steamy cut of deep house. Airy hi-hats and a high pitched string supplement a loopy bassline, timeless chord pattern and a pounding kick. With the occasional vocal one-shot the track feels instantly recognizable in its influences while retaining a strong identity.

Following is ITXC, the track we are proud of premiering today. Enter the dance softly thanks to looping and dubbed pads with a subby bassline smelling strong of early drum n bass, not unlike previous releases on the label. Surprisingly enough the track follows up with a straight kick movement although there are some trace of breaking drums lurking in the background. Is it a set opener or closer? Maybe it’s perfect for the rush hour at peak time? It seems to us that this track will make its impact whenever you play it and that’s possibly its biggest quality. Plus there’s a reference to « that » bird sample... Who doesn’t love a bit of meta-quoting?

B-side opens with Being, taking a similar approach to the aforementioned IXTC while going more to the leftfield part of the spectrum. A gorgeous track meant for special moments.

Enhancing this recipe, the closing track Actuall explores more techy and minimalist territories for a subtle introspective journey. It feels like floating on a cloud and should mark a strong impression with the right soundsystem.

Berlin-based Peer Du has crafted a dreamy, luxurious sound in recent years, which is no wonder why the Haŵs crew have summoned him to unite with their ever-budding family tree. The Welsh label and party series have been quietly watering their roots throughout the previous months, and with its latest re-potting for its fourth EP comes a provocative collection of tracks that slink outwards from the ether like a polychrome, sonic mosaic.

‘Criticize’ takes inspiration from a favourite of Peers’ mother’s - the Alexander O’Neals original – and uses it as the foundation for a simple but sophisticated 2-chord progression that adorns itself with shuffled beats to create a slightly giddy and crooning summer burner.
