Finally: The 🇵🇱 🦆 made it to the 🫖 party at 🚢

It was such a wonderful experience for me. Not only could I pass on my energy to the loving crowd, but I could also belt out one or two epic, heartfelt tracks that would have otherwise never made it to the gig. There was also a little breakbeat, as well as a good portion of cool bounce and dark prog techno with psychedelic elements. I don’t know what brought me there, but it happened amidst tea and laughter.

And yes. I still play spontaneously. Ok the opening was planed. But the rest… No bragging, just honest words from an otherwise rather reserved Polish Bavarian. #Nopreparationismypreparation. #stopbeingperfect #noinstasets #norerecording Save the nerdy categorization.

Aiaiaiii, was war das denn bidde für ein crazy Ride? Wir hatten die Ehre am 1.Mai von 12-14 Uhr die Rakete in der Sternwarte der legendären Station Endlos in Halle zu zünden. Vielen Dank an die Tanzgemeinde die uns den Mittag versüßt hat. Es hat einen heiden Spaß gemacht mit euch zu grooven.

Today, sophya takes us on an extremely slow but very groovy journey through the world of downtempo electronic music. There's something of 2005 about it, but nothing oldschool here. Quite the opposite, in fact. The bass pushes, the drums rattle, and the groove will literally lull you to an hypnotic state. There's also a hint of disco, deep house and definitely keta pop. It's great fun to spend almost two hours with her. If afterhour sounds, than here.

What is your musical background?

I come from a very musical household – I learned to play piano and guitar at an early age, and music has always been a way for me to process my emotions. Before I got into electronic music, I lost myself in all kinds of other genres, and that still shapes how I approach music today. I don't want to tie myself to one specific sound – I try to follow my intuition and blend different genres together.

What I always connect with, though: bounce, deep and emotional tracks, and a good dose of trash.


What makes a good afterhours party?

For me, the afterhours are now often the best part of a night out. It's when the loud, lively night is over and we move on to a more relaxed setting with a small group of people hanging out. For me, a good afterhour needs the right people, a cosy place, lots of mischief and laughter, good drinks and snacks, and of course, the right soundtrack.


What would you like to share with us about your mix?

After a long night, I'm often exhausted and like to make myself comfortable somewhere. When the music picks me up and slowly breathes a little energy back into me while I'm still on this dreamy, tired but satisfied wave, that's one of the best experiences. That's what I've tried to achieve with this set.

Have you ever wondered how many subgenres there have been in our scene since 2010? 5, 10 or 20? Do you remember when there were no pure downtempo productions? It felt like an eternity looking for downpitchable songs that also fitted together stylistically, didn't it? ...
I'm a real fan of so many different subgenres of electronic music – I could listen to them all day! And every now and then, I like to mix things up and try something new. At the end, I am thrilled to say that I understand and feel 'arkadiusz' more as a music project! Especially during podcast collaborations I try something new and special. 

As a performing club DJ I am focused on two amazing directions: Slow and fast, or as I like to say: Hypnodream and Hypnodance!
