She leads the maiden across the bridge and through the archway. Just as they walk out onto the precipice, Miriam can feel the falling rain as her eyes adjust to the daylight. It’s diffused quite significantly by thick cloud-cover, but it’s nothing like the darkness of the dungeons… or the grey light upon the castle. It’s real, tangible daylight… which immediately takes Miriam’s breath away.
