Lately, especially at night, I am often overcome with deep sorrow in the face of the increasing threat to the wonderful earth and the creeping decay of basic human values worldwide. In the former Nazi Germany, a right-wing populist party (the so-called Alternative for Germany (AfD))has temporarily been the second strongest party in Germany according to the latest polls and is gaining more and more supporters.

Against the background of these developments, I do not consider such an experienced sadness to be anything morbid, but would like to call it a kind of "healthy melancholy". A feeling of what is possibly already irretrievably lost, paired with a real fear of further damage, which can come to nature and humans. At the same time a deep indignation at those who are involved in this destructive development. And also an outrage at me, who in his good 50 years of life has done far too little to at least make a small contribution to reversing this downward trend. 

When I speak of "No more hope" in my song "Sadness", I mean that it makes no sense to stand alone against decay. It only works together: sharing grief, fear and indignation. I want to express this mainly with this track.

And quite deliberately I post this track on the Day of German Unity (October 3rd), which for me should be called the Day of German Disunity and Riveness due to the deep processes of division in the German population.
