Parting Away

For my project I wanted to do a cover of the song Riptide by Vance Joy. I learned how to play the song on piano and I also learned to play other instruments. I chose to learn the song on piano because I like the song and I already knew how to play some of it. I chose to add other instruments to make it more interesting. Once I learned the instrument parts I recorded them into GarageBand. During this project, I focused on the big ideas of expression, innovation, and craftsmanship. My song expresses calmness and peacefulness. I made my cover innovative by making the piano the main instrument instead of ukulele. I also made it innovative by changing the structure of the song. I focused on craftsmanship by adding a bunch of different layers to my song and also making sure that all the parts of the song went together. I hope you enjoy my cover.

Riptide (cover) - by Benedicte

For our project, we chose to produce three dubstep tracks and upload them to the popular music sharing website “soundcloud”. During this project, we learned a variety of knowledge and skills including how to create an interesting track and how to create various moods in a song. We learned numerous garageband skills including using the midi controller to create drum beats, bass lines, and melodies.  We also learned many garageband editing skills including splitting the tracks and copy and pasting some beats. Before we started writing the music, we listened to dubstep song examples in order to get ideas for our song. We had to figure out what makes an excellent dubstep song before we began. We think an excellent dubstep song has to have a good melody, bass, beats, and needs to keep your attention. We hope you enjoy our dubstep tracks.

Super Dub 4- by Jack and Chase

For my project, I chose to learn how to make a track using Logic Pro X, a program installed on our computers in order to produce music. I chose to do this because in previous projects, I have worked in a group so this time I have decided to work solo and express my ideas into music using Logic. Since I have never used Logic, I am going to learn first: how to use it, and second: all the fundamentals and tips of using the program to make my project the best it can be. During this project I will be focusing on the ideas of expression, craftsmanship, and innovation. My piece expresses an upbeat, energetic, and relaxing mood. I created a well crafted piece by using patterns and making sure it’s interesting throughout the whole song. I also made this an innovative piece by creating my own beats and melody.

Zack's Jam

For my last project of the year I decided to make an ep of my original songs. I’ve been writing music for a while but I’ve only ever recorded one of my songs. I thought that this would help me learn somewhat how real recording artists work. For this ep I wrote 5 songs, recorded them with my guitar and voice, and published it online. It is a huge step for me in the job that I want to have after I leave Arlington. During this project I really focused on my music writing skills, writing these songs was quite difficult at first, but after lots of practice I was able to write 5 amazing songs, that I am very proud of. I also on my recording skills.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this new Paris & Simo x Jakko track. Paul Aiden's vocals remind me Chris Martin and this song is an ANTHEM. I've had it on replay for awhile and am very proud to have this song as Proximity's first release. Hope you all enjoy as well. :)
