Berlin‘s original tropical music pioneer DJ Nomad has been a collector of South African and Zimbabwean music for over 30 years. 
Berlin had due to it‘s very political music scene of the 80‘s close ties to south africa. Several anti-apartheid labels were based in Berlin, so there never was a shortage of southern African music in the city. Young Nomad fell in love with the fierceness, pride and love that the music from the townships radiated
Songs that spoke of the daily struggles of  the apartheid : living in township ghettos, working hard labour jobs, alcoholism, domestic violence and the mapantsulas - the street gangsters but also about love, romance and the hope for an evolution(which was soon to come).

This mix focuses on exactly that time period, the pre- revolutionary 60‘s and 70‘s before Kwaito & Bubblegum reflected a new way of life. It‘s a testament of life in the townships in the era of township jive, township soul and the early beginning of disco It travels from the townships to the north too the war torn city of Harare, that was still in the midst of the second "Chimurenga“  - the great Zimbabwe Rhodesian war for Independance. Later a whole genre of guitar heavy music from that area - showcased in the second half of the mix- was named after that conflict.

South African & Zimbabwean music from that certain era is loaded with history of the struggle for a better, more beautiful life. A longing for peace, love and equality. It was also a solace and source of  power to cope until those changes manifest.That‘s why it is the lifeblood of the south

Ecoute Moi Camarade (Exclusive 2h Selection for Le Protocole Radio, September 2020)

The Brazilian-Danish group Copenema return with a remix album of their debut LP, Deixa a Música Tocar. In addition to the nine remixes, this album also features ‘Sem Voce’ and unreleased exclusive ‘The Night is A Child’. 
When the album released back in May 2019, the unabashedly balmy sound of Copenema’s samba-tinged Balearic had already made its rounds on Ibiza by way singles such as ‘Te Faz Bem’ and ‘Nada Mais’. 
This cross-musical alliance proved a hit; irrepressibly sunny melodies, soothing, dancing, buzzing in the air. What was only meant to be a few casual yet excited recording sessions turned into a full studio album.  
This release compiles a selection of remixes of those workds. There is an ambient version of ‘Ja Te Falei’. There are special alternative mixes of ‘Nada Mais’ and ‘Deixa a Música Tocar’. There are remixes by Brazilian DJ Meme, Greek CheapEdits and Kenneth Bager’s own treatments. And more…
