Recorded with a Takamine acoustic guitar (Edward) and a laptop in my little basement studio...............

A few months ago I came across an acoustic musician named Jon Gomm playing his song 'Passion Flower'. What this gentleman could do with a guitar was simply amazing!

His use of the instrument in unconventional ways to produce music inspired me to really start from scratch, practicing every way I could think of to produce sound from the guitar.
The most challenging part has been adding in percussive beats while playing and learning to play up and down the neck overhand while all the fingerings are backward.............This is my first stab at pulling together everything I have been playing with for the past month into a song. Hope you like it ;-)

I wrote this song for a dear friend that has been going through a hard time and has been on my mind a great deal lately...........No words on this one.......just my feelings expressed through the guitar...........Smile :-)

I originally wrote "Bloom" as an instrumental about the different seasons of life. I cannot begin to express how much it means to me that Fa found beauty in the music and has added so much more through her wonderful words and voice!!! Thank you so much!!!

Written in a hotel room in Austin, Texas and recorded in my small home studio using a Fender Acoustic guitar (Lucy) through a Fishman Loudbox and Fender Acoustisonic amplifiers.

I was recently back on the road with a stop in Austin Texas........checked into room #1601 at the downtown Hilton and being completely exhausted, I crashed for the night. Around 2:00am I woke up to the blinding street lights below shining through the window. As I crawled out of bed to close the curtains I noticed to my left was the State Capitol building surrounded by all the downtown buildings and trappings of "Success" while to my right was the highway overpass, under which a single homeless gentleman was sleeping wrapped in a blanket on the concrete support of the bridge.
Such a stark contrast of situations and at the same time, here we were on opposite sides of the glass but both yearning for home.
I picked up my guitar and this song came out as I watched over this man through my window pane that night..........16 floors over his bridge, but both homeless...............

Lavender originated in a very personal way. This past Christmas, our middle daughter Kelley had asked for an easel with some canvases and paints. After breakfast on Christmas day I was working on a new piece of music with a new guitar as she set up to paint on the other side of the room. Over the next couple of hours her painting developed into a beautiful tree with purple leaves and as I watched her paint, the lyrics for the song I was working on begin to form. In the end we will never know how the developing music may have inspired her painting in the same way the developing painting inspired the lyrics, but this song and my daughter's painting are forever intertwined. This beautiful painting now hangs on my bedroom wall and is the first thing I see every morning when I wake up! "An empty canvas is all the color that you need, and you can be anything you want to be"..................................
