"Nowruz" for two flutes & small orchestra - 2023

Armin Sanayei (b. 1992, Tehran) is an Iranian composer based in Austria since 2013.
His work draws on classical, Iranian, and contemporary traditions, often blending them into a personal and intuitive musical language.

His music has been performed at venues such as Wiener Konzerthaus, Wiener Musikverein, and festivals like Grafenegg, 4020 Linz, and Simn Festival. Ensembles such as Alban Berg Ensemble Wien, Philharmonix Ensemble, and Reconsil Ensemble Vienna have performed his compositions.

He was a three-time candidate for the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation Composer’s Award and studied composition at MDW Vienna with Judit Varga, Clara Iannotta, Detlev Müller-Siemens, and Martin Lichtfuss. He began studying composition in Tehran with Ahmad Pejman, and also explored Iranian folk music under Fariborz Rostami.

He currently teaches at MDW and at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (2024–2025).
