Podcast #169 is bringing exactly what we need for our post-party realignment. The DJ/producer/live act duo, Akob have united some of their own personal creations (check out Circular Limited, The Gods Planet, Lowless, Planet Rhythm et al) with a beautiful selection of both unreleased material and existing well-loved tracks from fellow producers in this hour-long mix for On the 5th Day. And we are loving the outcome! This is definitely an artistic synergy that we're excited to follow.

@akobmusic are Paris & Berlin based DJs, producers & live act with releases on Lowless, The Gods Planet and more. We are very happy to present their special liveset recorded at La Marbrerie, near Paris, at a @lowless-music party alongside Neel, Wata Igarashi & Seb Alcachofa.

The idea behind their live setup is to create the ability to reuse and rearrange elements produced in the studio while leaving enough space for improvisation and tweaking the sound live in the moment.

The laptop-free setup is a combination of analog and digital machines: samplers/sequencers/looper (2x Octatrack), drum machines (Rytm), synthesizer (Syncussion, MB33, 0-Coast), effects (Octatrack, BigSky, T-resonator), midi controller (2x Nanokontrol) as well as mixer (Xone 96).

The master, Dino Sabatini, visited us at the last Klub Collective in April. One of the performances we have enjoyed the most so far.

The Italian's elegance and master class made us dance non-stop with a powerful and hypnotic set without leaving the dancefloor.

Through this series, I’ll present my own mixes, as well as mixes and live sets from artists who inspire me.

Each mix is an invitation to immerse yourself in a world of sound, where rhythms, textures, and melodies come together.

Complementing these musical journeys are carefully selected photographs, taken by my fellow cousin. These images serve as windows into the world we’re creating together, reflecting the emotions, atmospheres, and shared experiences.

To encourage true musical exploration, I reveal the artists and labels featured in each mix but not the individual tracks. This keeps the focus on exploring the creative minds behind the music, inspiring listeners to delve deeper into the work of these artists and labels.

Dripping in resonance, A Sacred Geometry creates a nostalgic ambient reality redolent of space and texture. Layers of subtle melody and rhythmic pulsation capture the importance of atmosphere and narrative within their work. Organic and emotional content pulsate through the rhythm while the artwork enforces the concept of the music.
This Italian producer is one of the founders of a label - A Sacred Geometry, which has been a brainchild of two passionate and likeminded artists. The imprint was born as a platform to illustrate techno as a narrative, forgoing the strictly dance floor nature of the medium. Influences from noise, ambient and new wave coupled with their graphic identity play a crucial role in how the music is perceived, as the journey continues with each new cover art.

It’s always a HUGE honour for us to be able to feature the recording of a DJ or live set in our podcast series - capturing a unique and very special moment in time for the artist, and all the lucky merrymakers fortunate enough to experience it; where it feels like the recording is infused with the energy of that moment, so that you can practically hear, see and feel it all as if you were there. 

We’re super stoked therefore to bring you a recording of the live set performed by Eyvind Blix at this year’s La Vallée Électrique (podcast #093). 

Picture an idyllic setting, 500 happy souls locked together in a celebration of nature, music, life, and your soundtrack is this absolute beauty, keeping you shimmying and shaking in all the right ways as you’re engulfed in a heady state of ethereal bliss, where in that moment, everything just seems to make sense.

Sigh.

“It’s hard to describe in words, but wow…. It was so magical, in all aspects… and it was in the middle of the night, you could taste the dawn in the end of the set. I felt I could really stretch the sound and just let it be very monotonic.”

Heck, we really do get it... nope, we can feel it… the subtlety of the groove and delicate shifts whispering “come with me”, encircled with delicious percussions igniting your senses and pulling you into a warm embrace.

As if a heavy fog has lifted its never-ending mantle the mind awakens. Suddenly a stinging pain rushes over as the tears of the sea become your own. Rubbing the eyes, unfortunately, makes no sense – embrace it, feel it, live with it. And gradually, the burning sensation goes away, as for the first time you can see where the sea has taken you.
