Podcast #169 is bringing exactly what we need for our post-party realignment. The DJ/producer/live act duo, Akob have united some of their own personal creations (check out Circular Limited, The Gods Planet, Lowless, Planet Rhythm et al) with a beautiful selection of both unreleased material and existing well-loved tracks from fellow producers in this hour-long mix for On the 5th Day. @akobmusic are Paris & Berlin based DJs, producers & live act with releases on Lowless, The Gods Planet and more. We are very happy to present their special liveset recorded at La Marbrerie, near Paris, at a @lowless-music party alongside Neel, Wata Igarashi & Seb Alcachofa.

The idea behind their live setup is to create the ability to reuse and rearrange elements produced in the studio while leaving enough space for improvisation and tweaking the sound live in the moment.

The laptop-free setup is a combination of analog and digital machines: samplers/sequencers/looper (2x Octatrack), drum machines (Rytm), synthesizer (Syncussion, MB33, 0-Coast), effects (Octatrack, BigSky, T-resonator), midi controller (2x Nanokontrol) as well as mixer (Xone 96).

"I wanted this mix to be equally suitable for raving and for a deep-listening session. It represents how i like to play for the dance-floor : angular, twisted, 3-dimensional and sexy. I included a couple of tracks of mine, a few of them are unreleased yet.
Some others by undeniable legends, some by emerging talented producers.
There’s also a track by Gigi FM, with whom I’ll play B2B at Awakenings... Very much looking forward to that weekend.

From his early releases on the legendary german imprint raster-noton, to his more recent output aimed at the club, Kangding Ray managed to trace a singular trajectory, navigating the unexplored territories between experimental and dance music.
Through his consistency as live performer and DJ, and with a number of critically acclaimed releases under his belt, Kangding Ray showed his ability to keep a genuine artistic approach, while slowly crafting an unique universe, equally focused on emotional response and visceral impact. 
Kangding Ray’s music tests boundaries, evolving constantly in its exploration of texture and rhythms, while talking equally to the body and the mind. From his past as architect, Kangding Ray kept a multidisciplinary approach to art, applying his craft in diverse artistic fields  such as visual arts, film scores, audiovisual installations and dance performances.
