East London based label, Soulvent Records, return with a brand new release. Summer wouldn't be summer without an incredible anthem, which has been delivered by one of the hottest duo's to come out of the Netherlands in recent years, NCT.
Jeroen Nai Chung Tong & Alexander Witschge's debut on Soulvent comes in the form of 'Scars', bright stabs and mellow strings set the tone in the intro, building up to a climactic drop full of plucky synths, light snappy drums and an over-all 'feel good' vibe, the perfect accompaniment to any festival bound Drum & Bass fan.
The b-side see's the incredible NCT join forces with their Belgiun neighbour and Soulvent family member, Diego Torres for the breathtaking track, 'No One Home'. This vocal lead track, with the added touch from Diego Torres' signature swelling piano, brings together cinematic style strings and guitars into a beautiful drop with deep basslines and rolling drums.
This perfect coming together of material and artists adds another instant classic to Soulvent back catalogue and will no doubt make appearences into sets throughout the summer months this year.

NCT - Scars

After honing their trade in Southampton, drum & bass duo Gerra & Stone have made several successful forays into the wider world over the past couple of years. Regular players at Dispatch and Proximity, the pair have been turning heads in the RAM camp during 2015, dropping a killer jungle VIP of 'L.I.E.S.' via the label's recent RAMsterdam compilation. Now returning for their second effort for sister label, Program, Gerra & Stone have set thrusters to full once again!

A-side 'Dnt U' is as techy as they come, all retching, mutant synths and hard-nosed drumwork. Yet the outfit's love for the old school still features. Sly, junglistic elements peep through the gaps, giving the track extra depth and character.

Gerra & Stone - Dnt U

Over the past year, Gerra & Stone have become one of the most exciting duos to take the genre’s forefront. Featuring across Ram and Program’s discography, they’re creating their own space, one held firmly by tight production standards and a refreshing musicality, seldom seen in newly emerging talent. 

The single appeals to a diverse group of music listeners. Whether across the subs of London’s haunts, or the headphones of any technical music listener, these next two sonic cuts pedestal not only their understanding of a diverse sound design, but also their ability to conquer it. 

‘Dnt U’ is a riddim which cuts and swerves between cascading breaks and instantly recognisable drum patterns. The junglist influences are given a stockiness by an LFO bassline and distortion, falling between amen and quaking sub. It shows a clear persona etched out by the two producers, one which has made them instantly recognisable from the outset. 

The next up, ‘Chicago’ also brings an old school vibe whilst utilising more contemporary techniques. Flipping beat patterns draw you in, whilst metallic percussion drives you forward at an incredible speed. Switching up, it then drags you down a corridor of fluctuating bass notes and snapping hi-hats. 

Adding a second instalment to an already impressive entree, this next output from the outfit prove their path is about to take another ascent. And with exciting new talent to come from the imprint… Once again, it’s time to get with the Program! 



Gerra & Stone - Chicago

After 2 solo releases respectively on Soulvent last year, Jack Higgins and Harry Bryson joined forces back in April to release their first EP, simply entitled The Music. This understated 4 track release has received a fairly impressive response, with support from Rinse FM, Mistajam, Technimatic, London Elektricity, SPY, Etherwood, Fred V and Grafix... The list goes on. We therefore decided to let the rest of the Soulvent camp fight tooth and nail over the stems. The outcome resulted in 4 incredible remixes from the likes of Phaction, GLXY, Arch Origin and T & Sugah.
GLXY return to Solvent to apply their trademark sound to 'The Music'. Cleverly sampling portions of the original track, they totally re-imagine it's liquid roller beginnings, turning it into a veritable bass playground. Phaction injects Bristolian flavour into 'Stolen Glances' ft. Sammie Bella with soft pads, a seriously jazzy piano lick and crisp drum pattern. Tipping it's cap to the original, this softer remix shows Phaction's composure as a producer and a welcome first foray on Soulvent. Daniel Van Mourik, AKA, Arch Origin turns his hand to 'Bad Habit'. With some 'Take Me Away'-esque bassline work and tight drum grooves he turns up a win with this remix. Finally T & Sugah round off the 4 track with their take on 'Walk Away'. The intro sees rhythmic plucky synths building energy, making way for the pitched down original vocal. The Remix EP proves to be as much of a package deal, as Pola & Bryson's original offering. Jonathan Campbell and Tom Alston, aka GLXY, are back! Fresh from releasing on MTA Records the two return to Soulvent with a stunning 4 track EP. The London based team deliver a solid collection of rollers, giving a true insight into the slick and refined bass sound they’ve orchestrated in the short time they’ve been producing.

‘Introspective’ is an understated opener to the EP. A minimal, somewhat haunting start leads us into the spooky repetitive female vocal, almost robotic in tone, prior to a dose of a rib-rattling sub bass. Atmospheric swells and bass twangs keep us rolling along, while the boys’ less than safe bass work keeps our attention. The title track, ’Exposed’, kicks off with a minimal drum lick, opening out into a dark relief – a somewhat ravey pad, tinged with guttural low-pitched vocal chops and sub stabs. The drop sees a truly low-down roller come to life, minimal in its composition yet never boring. The second drop sees further bass exploration, with various rhythmic components keeping our attention.

‘Lonely’ features esteemed singer Belle Humble and opens with an enveloping sense of calm, as soothing vocals blend perfectly with reserved piano chords. The haunting rhythm and tone introduce restless counter melodies crescendoing to a raw, bass driven, chest-thumping drop. The pair effortlessly structure each interesting component part of the track, balancing hypnotic vocals against sprawling synths. Last track up ‘Marquis’ sees the London pair collaborate with Fokuz veteran, Malaky. The intro offers up a calmer side to this 4-track release, resulting in a solid drum groove, giving way to airy soft pads and a cutting synthetic vocal. The drop promises more trademark bass work, with solid synth and composition.

All in all, this stellar 4 track EP sees the duo return to Soulvent in true GLXY style.

A much anticipated and previously unreleased (until now) version of Gerra & Stone's "Release My Soul". This is a track that was discussed as a potenital candidate towards Gerra & Stones forthcoming debut album on Dispatch Recordings entitled 'Polarism' (see below) but at the same time we also felt we didn't want to make people wait any longer on this as it's a version of this track so many people have emailed and messaged us about over the past few months or so with the request to make it available in some way.  We are happy to present this as a free DL (link to DL above the player file or at the bottom of this description further down).

For our final release of 2016, we are proud to have reached our milestone 100th Dispatch release, marking the occasion with a Various Artists’ compilation featuring some of our favourite producers from the past and present.

Celebrating some of the artists that have moulded the label today, whilst simultaneously showcasing upcoming talent, the album is split into two parts – the ‘Future Blueprint’; including original / newly remixed music from the likes of DLR, Skeptical, Gerra, Stone & Cern and the ‘Past Blueprint’; a selection of our best loved cuts from over the years, with numerous showings from Survival, Break and Zero T, plus classics from A.I., Marcus Intalex and Duo Infernale.

Reflecting on how the label and artists have developed together in time, further names appear on both Parts 1 & 2, including Script (on ‘Sahara’ with Survival and also the classic ‘Set Up The Set’) and label boss Ant TC1, alongside Chris SU and Stress Level first for ‘Waves’ and now, remixing Nymfo’s ‘Coming Through’ with Seattle duo Quadrant & Iris.

With special thanks to all the fans, press and DJs that have supported us over the years, we are thrilled to have made it to a century of releases; with so much good music around today, we look forward to sharing our plans for 2017 and on.
