This is a song I started writing in September and produced several versions of.  This version was used in Grey's Anatomy on November 20th, 2014 in Season 11 episode 8.  
lyrics:

Het is nieuwjaarsdag
en de straat ligt scheef
oude oliebollen in een doos
die niemand nog gelooft

De lucht is grijs gebleven
alsof hij iets vergeten is
opgebrand vuurwerk onder schoenen
dat zachtjes knispert als bewijs

Ik hoor een radio bij de buren
een stem die zegt: “het wordt beter zo”
maar hij klinkt alsof hij zelf niet weet
hoe laat het is, of waar hij woont

Goede ideeën liggen op tafel
naast een half leeg glas
ze doen alsof ze slapen
maar ik weet dat ze me zien

De dag begint pas halverwege
en zelfs dan niet echt
iemand veegt het plein weer schoon
en noemt dat vooruitgang, zegt

Ik loop langs ramen zonder namen
iedereen telt opnieuw
wat overbleef van gisteren
en wat er misschien nog moet

Het jaar doet net alsof het nieuw is
maar draagt nog dezelfde jas
met zakken vol van toen
en kruimels van wat was

En ergens tussen koud en later
tussen nu en ooit misschien
denk ik: laat het maar zo blijven
dit zachte, twijfelende begin
