Originally "Back in the Days" released in 2004 on Resopal Schallware marked Tigerskin as a torchbearer for pop-oriented groovy House, reviving the raw energy of early 90s bleeps, swung beats, and untamed dance floor spirit but transforming it with the technical possibilities of the early 00s into his trademark romantic vision.

From the pulse of “Dance Now” to the cringey charm of “Party in My Car,” Tigerskin proved that Back in the Days was more than a look backward - it was a bridge between era's: a reminder that the roots of club culture still grow, still breathe, still move people.

Two decades on, this re‑release doesn’t just bring back nostalgia - it reminds us that reminiscing every once in a while can push creativity. The album and a few EPs around it were the start of a pretty different approaches to club music for Tigerskin, that led to several big tracks and remixes, some now considered to be classics by many. 

The three formerly unreleased and slightly more club-oriented bonus tracks had been recorded the same year but were amongst many that didn’t make it to the album.

Wilba returns to his own Fraise Records with “Retracing The Steps,” a four-track expedition that refines the DNA of his Duowe sound into something moodier, deeper, and distinctly personal. Drawing from the energy of open-air festival sets and long nights under the canopy, the EP bridges Tech House and Electro with precision - stripped grooves, rumbling basslines, and shimmering atmospheres built for woodland floors and intimate basements alike.

The B1 track, “Freaks of Nature”, creates one of the record’s most captivating moments - a hypnotic yet grounded groover that balances weight and warmth with finesse. A playful, looping synth line weaves through the track like a soft hallucination, locking into a groove that’s equal parts driving and dreamlike. When the break unfolds, delicate bell-like tones drift in, briefly softening the track’s pulse before it plunges back into its bass-fueled momentum.

It’s a masterclass in control: heavy without ever feeling forced, melodic without losing its edge. “Freaks of Nature” embodies that rare duality of being both introspective and club-effective - a track that lures dancers deeper into the night, whether it’s echoing through a forest clearing or shaking the walls of a dark, low-ceilinged room. Another fine example of Wilba’s evolving craft, where emotion and rhythm move in perfect sync.

Following the series of singles leading up to his new album scheduled for December, Leo Janeiro, founder of Cocada Music and a key figure in Brazilian House Music, presents another chapter of his artistic journey with the release of Carioca Flute / Som na Caixa.

Collaboration sets the tone for this release. Nathan Flutebox, the British pioneer who created the fluteboxing technique by fusing flute and beatbox in performances that have shared stages with the likes of The Prodigy, The Roots, and Guru, brings his unmistakable mark to “Carioca Flute” . Meanwhile, Zopelar, musician, DJ, and one of the most inventive producers in Brazil’s electronic scene, adds his signature to Som na Caixa, drawing from a discography released on global imprints such as Apron Records, Tartelet, and Soul Clap, reinforcing his role as a creative reference both in Brazil and abroad.

In “Carioca Flute” , Nathan Flutebox’s presence adds new layers of texture, with the flute taking center stage through a distinctive timbre that feels both engaging and dance-driven. The track fuses freshness, Brazilian identity, and house nuances, expanding horizons and projecting new possibilities for the dancefloor.

“Som na Caixa” , on the other hand, places breakbeat at the heart of its arrangement, evoking the raw and vibrant energy of Rio’s baile funk. Its rhythmic elements carry a nostalgic freshness, recalling memories while sounding current and pulsating. The melodies embody the seamless interplay between Leo Janeiro’s and Zopelar’s artistic signatures, resulting in a track that reflects both their creative dialogue and the singular identity each brings to the collaboration.

We love our star themes on Club Mackan. And the next release is no different. We welcome Berlin-based James Rod with a stellar two-track EP, Astrolosis. With remixes from Aleito and Marcus Christiansen, this release is a journey through cosmic melodies, galactic grooves, and star-born transformations.

The title track, "Astrolosis," shines with a bright, uplifting melody that never quite sits still. Like a star undergoing metamorphosis, its sound keeps shifting while its core remains the same—steady bassline, euphoric tone, and clever layering. It's cosmic, happy, and hypnotic.

"Giorgiolate" follows with a groove that feels like a disco beat turned cinematic. The bassline takes the lead, constantly evolving and commanding the spotlight. Not-so-subtle FX and nuanced shifts in rhythm keep the track dynamic, giving it a sense of propulsion through space.

Marcus Christiansen's remix of "Astrolosis" injects drama and edge into the original. With a bit of acid and a powerful build-up, the remix builds tension like a dying star—only to explode into euphoric release, a true supernova moment.

Aleito, on the other hand, turns "Giorgiolate" into something far darker. Think dark matter made audible. Pitched-down percussion and haunting melodies make his version feel like it belongs in a distant, unknown galaxy.
