Beyond Electro Beats

Frankfurt based DJ, curator and event manager Shia LaBiff @shialabiff, known amongst his peers as Michèl Dion Baltin, has a huge repertoire of music and influences which he is constanltly sharing for the last 20 years. Starting in early age with Indie, Post Punk and New Wave he soon discovered the joy of electronic club music and started following the path of New Order, Primal Scream and Andrew Weatherall into a new beat driven world. You will hear shades of Italo Disco, New Beat, Acid, Techno, EBM and New/Cold Wave in his mixtapes or DJ sets. His event and guest mix series Blank Wave just started in January 2023 with well known and international artists like Perel, Lauer, Shubostar, Que Sakamoto, Rotciv, Moderna and Skelesys – just to name a few. Et une nouvelle année pour le Foutoir Moderne... On est en cours de saison mais pour pour ce numéro 133 (et 2024) on attaque avec un producteur qui a su se (re)faire un nom en très peu de temps, c'est @Neurotiker ! Marcelo (de son vrai prénom), est un producteur brésilien basé à Rio de Janeiro et qui bien ayant déjà réalisé un EP en 2013 sur le label anglais, Borg recordings, s'est fait (re)connaître récemment avec son fantastique EP "Dream Machine" sur le label toulousain qu'on aime, @ritmofatale. S'en suivit un florilège de productions, singles, remixes et donc notamment "Dystopian Romance" sur @polarirecords (le label de @Cormac) et "Arcadia" sur @nubiansofplutoniarecords, "Art Repeats Itself" sur Weirdos Records  (le label de @malaikamalaika) en 2022 puis "The Showstoppers" sur @revodisc en 2023.
Son univers se situe dans un mix de disco, d'italo-disco, new beats, wave, ebm et d'électro avec un esprit toujours (retro)futuriste.

Born in Brazil, Ludmila began her DJ career in 2009, leaving her mark on the underground scene in Brazil and Latin America. Her vibrant and diverse sound is influenced by Dark Disco, Electro, EBM, Techno, Synth Wave, Indie Electro, and even classics from the 80s, mixing the past with the most recent musical innovations.

Ludmila conducts her musical productions through her project Discodrama, reviving the sounds of FM synthesizers with contemporary beats and dark electronic tones.

In 2020, Ludmila created the Trevosa channel, a space for artists and enthusiasts to share their sounds and promote their original productions. In 2022, Trevosa evolved into a party based in Berlin, promoting connections with artists from all over the world.

Ludmila continues to be an influential figure in the dark electronic scene, connecting people, creating spaces and living her real passion for music.

On the bridge between San José, Costa Rica and Berlin, Germany, Ignacio Rosa, producer, vocalist, DJ and label head behind DISCOTECA NEGRA, is standing in crafting synthetic and dark soundscapes that embrace the essence of the 80s decade which created the groundwork for the developments that lead into the early 90s.

Ignacio plays around the influence of his punk roots, resulting in a canvas where classic and a raw ethos converge, showcasing material on his own record label and personal timeless favorites. He succeeded notably well in mix no. 40!

Been A long time since I dropped a Vinyl-only set. Was going well till I played one of my all-time favorites 'Moscow Risers' which is an exceeding worn-down record as a tram went past resulting in a massive skip fail. Also, the start of My 'Blackstrobe Chemica Sweet Gril EP' always skips a beat so that mix-out is a bit hectic as well!

Is what it is. All part of performing live with vinyl!! Left it in as it's just the way it goes ;)

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. This can be applied to our music policy, tilting the vertical axis resulting in a sharp area of focus without reducing the depth of field. The selective focus that can be achieved by both tilting and shifting movements, It's compelling because the effect is different from that which you may have become accustomed to. This movement is often used to avoid the convergence of parallel lines, or as we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur.

Eyes Dice is a DJ, photographer, music journalist, co-founder of the KEYI Magazine platform which connects fashion-music and art in one place, and co-founder of Dark Disco.org label. Head of creative agency www.keyi.eu. Based in Berlin. Playing fast-forward techno and electro trip with the pinch of ebm energy, originally from Poland but spent 5 years in Asia playing in clubs like Dada Beijing, Oil Shenzhen and Saferoom Bangkok or Vinylhouse Shenzhen. Recently played a variety of gigs across South America in Chile, Peru, Costa Rica or Columbia. He also played in legendary Berlin locations like Sameheads, Dream Baby Dream where he hosts events from time to time. Recently played in Urban Spree, Kitkat and had his debut in Kantine am Berghain.

In 2009 Ivan founded logical records and since then the label has gone from strength to strength, with quality releases after quality release. Some of which have been supported by some of the biggest and most highly respected DJ's and producers, namely the late Andrew Weatherall, who played some of the tracks at Dekmantel and more.OBJ

Ivan has a Huge catalogue of releases, as himself and also with his partner in LosBikini, Jorge. [OBJ As Losbikini and on his own he has released on many of the most prestigious labels such as, Nein, Tici Taci, Blindetonation or Nude disco to name but a few. Having played in several European countries such as the UK, Ireland, Scotland and Germany (Berlin) Ivan gained a lot of understanding and experience of what the crowd want. Also having played in his home countries at events such as off sonar week in Barcelona, he has also either played or been a resident in many of Madrid's top clubs, such as Cafe Berlin, Ballesta, Phoenix.

Starting with laid-back groovy rhythms at 120 BPM that allow for easing into a set early in the evening. This first part is heavily influenced by South American artists and labels, such as Ademarr, Theus Mago, and Tierra de Ovnis. The set evolves in the final part towards more club-oriented tracks, evoking late-night vibes and higher BPMs.

Zaatar is an artist originally from Morocco, based in France, who has stood out since the beginning of her career for her unique sound signature. She carves her own path by delicately blending her Moroccan heritage with influences from EBM, New Beat, and Trance. Quickly becoming a force in the Body Music scene, Zaatar has built a reputation both as a prolific producer and a captivating DJ. Discovered on Ritmo Fatale with her powerful track "Abiad Al Layali," she released her first EP on the highly respected label Dischi Autunno.

Alongside recognized artists in the scene, she has already performed at the legendary Fuse club in Brussels, Gaïté Lyrique in Paris, Macadam in Nantes, Le Sucre in Lyon, Else and Renate in Berlin, as well as for Astropolis, Positive Education, and the Montreux Jazz Festival.

With her authentic and unconventional approach, Zaatar skillfully
multiplies her influences, breaking free from any stylistic or genre
barriers. She thus creates her own sonic landscape, characterized by captivating rhythms often accompanied by melancholic melodies.
