You have always been a hero to me. You showed me that there is hope in art. You showed me that there is life in words. You showed me that, through writing, you could truly touch souls. 

My only wish is that I could've met you in this life. I always imagined sitting with you chatting and just being in awe of your presence. I would watch your old interviews just to be inspired again. 

I always wondered if you would like my music, if you would've approved of the person I have become, if you would be proud of me. Your poems inspired a body of work of mine that I never had the opportunity to put out. I wish you could've heard it. You will be missed by so many. 

Your impact on this world will transcend even your own understanding. The biggest irony of it all is that words cannot begin to express what your life and legacy means to us here in St Lucia.
