Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series!

On this week's editions we welcome @almalive

ALMA - carefully crafted tracks with heartwarming spaces and emotional hooks all carrying a very distinctive sound signature - a message far beyond the dance floor. Those are working hand in hand with a variety of common instrumental recordings and acoustic elements that blend both the electronic and the acoustic world to ALMA's very own sound universe. Right from the beginning, both musicians concentrated on the crucial idea of performing their music as a live act duo. Therefore, all songs are tailored to the demands of a clubby environment during live performances whilst simultaneously delivering emotional and melancholic pleasure. Moreover, they felt a special connection with visual art right from the beginning, which leads to their show as a concept of both musical and visual art. Right now, ALMA is performing their music as a live act in exclusive locations.

Leo Grünbaum ist ein Multi-Instrumentalist, der am Berklee College of Music seiner Ausbildung absolviert hatte. Er kombiniert elektronische, symphonische und Jazz-Elemente, um seinen unverkennbaren Sound zu kreieren. Leo liefert unverwechselbare Live-Sets:  drückende und animierende Tracks, die die Füße zum Tanzen bewegen. Seit 2010 bereist er die Welt und arbeitet mit Künstlern zusammen (Alex Under, Matthew Dekay, Guti). Mit seinen Veröffentlichungen bei Trapez, Desolat, Lucidflow und mehr trat Grünbaum 2017 der All Day I Dream-Familie bei und kombinierte die Vision seines Tech House-Act Grünbox mit der Vielseitigkeit eines neuen Sounds.

This week with  Léo G aka Leo Grünbaum from Berlin/Buenos Aires.

A multi-instrumentalist trained at Berklee College of Music, Grünbaum blends electronic, symphonic and jazz elements to create his signature sound. Grünbaum delivers distinctive live sets: trippy, sexy, soundtrack-esque tracks that move hips and open minds. Since 2010 he has toured the globe, collaborating with fellow artists (Alex Under, Matthew Dekay, Guti). With releases on Trapez, Desolat, Lucidflow and more, Grünbaum joined the All Day I Dream family in 2017, merging the vision of his Tech House act Grünbox with the lushness of a new sound.

We're excited to have a brilliant staple of the NY house music scene for this session of the radio show with a deep and sultry mix that is perfect for the warming weather and sunny skies.

Valissa Yoe was born in Chicago, home of house music, to then move to New York at the age of 3 with her artist parents who were pursuing their dreams in the big city. Valissa grew up listening to R&B, Soul, and Funk, later to fall under the spell of house music and reconnect with her Chicago roots. In 2002, she studied fashion design at FIT. She has spent years cutting her teeth as a fashion stylist and makeup artist working for the likes of Madonna and Usher.

Knowing her creative juices wouldn’t stop there, she fully submerged herself in the underground dance scene, club-hopping and bumping arms with living legends like Green Velvet, Danny Krivit, Derrick Carter, Tony Humphries, and Danny Tenaglia. She decided she needed to learn the craft and dig deep for her sound blending the new with the nostalgic, giving her the tools to move any crowd until the lights come on. One of her first dj gigs was opening for famed DJ, A-Trak and hip hop superstar, Drake. She has since DJed with Eli and Fur, Q-Tip, T-E-E-D, Curses, Nomi Ruiz, Escort, Casey Spooner, Plastic Plates, Lux Groove, Cry Baby, Lauren Flax, Alexander Technique, and for Todd Terry’s label, Terminator Records. She has also opened in support of John Legend and Lil Kim. Valissa’s sound is a mix of sultry disco/funk, soulful house, and dirty-bass vibes, decisively curated for a bumping dance-floor. She plays around the globe from high-profile Fashion Week parties in NYC and Paris, swanky nights of disco and house at Boom Boom Room NYC and Sketch London, rooftop parties at Le Bain NYC and Soho Beach House Miami, to sweaty dance floors in Brooklyn at Output, Panther Room, and House of YES.
