Artaphine Series

Pedro Cravo is a masterful hypnotist behind the decks. Conjuring up different loops, he enchants his audiences with groovy yet mysterious sounds, expertly combining the seemingly opposed deep and rough textures techno has to offer. A magician in the studio, Cravo lends this signature sound to his productions, which are often met with high acclaim within the scene. It is no wonder then, that his platform Hayes Collective (he is co-founder) is widely considered one of the hottest outlets for modern and groovy cuts and is probably the most influential spanish techno export currently available, with names such as Temudo and ViL to boast. Enjoy this one-hour showing of functional as well as asthetic electronic music, crafted for the dancefloor, yet perfectly suited for simply listening as well.

Electronic dance music and beyond
Nuno Costa began his ventures into electronic music in 2008 with his Sinner moniker, and with it he created Warface, a local crew and promoter focused on dubstep, drum ’n’ bass, and UK garage.

In 2013 he kickstarted his new project, VIL, focusing mainly on techno, electro, breaks, and house music. His debut EP came in early 2015, when Portuguese label Extended Records picked him up for a release. Soon after, he released on Lewis Fautzi’s “Faut Section” imprint and on the legendary Synewave New York, run by Damon Wild.

VIL’s refined taste and set building ability has already earned him a place at some of the best clubs in the country, of which Lux Frágil, Gare, and Ministerium are included, and is a regular presence at many of the country’s festivals as well. Fast forward to 2018, where alongside Portuguese artists Temudo and menosdois, he creates Hayes, a collective focused on showcasing the distinct output of its artists through vinyl and digital releases. Already counting four vinyl releases since its inception and garnering support by some of the biggest name in the scene, Hayes turns out to be one the most promising labels to rise during the pandemic.

Furthermore VIL used the extended time in the studio between 2020 and 2021 to place his output on renowned labels outside of his own realm. Landing highly anticipated EPs both on Ben Klock’s seminal label Klockworks and Stranger’s Self Reflektion further bolsters his studio proficiency.

With his Showcases in South Germany, he brings some serious techno into the clubs. Always in search of new opportunities to spread the sound of Schimmer, he tries to get in touch with people worldwide.

We continue the series by inviting another artist to the series that released on our first V/A last year. Istanbul born and raised artist Gräfin truly shows that genre isn't the defining factor in crafting your name into the techno scene. While the techno cuts are fast with industrial or groovy characters, she also experiments in the styles of electro, breaks and ambient. On the latest EPs on Mitsu2000 and Diffuse Reality this takes the centre stage, while her biggest release was contributing to the Exhale V/A of Amelie Lens. The next hour is definitely for the dancers: both on the mainstage or the sweat-dripping clubs.
