Amsterdam-based artist Keith Carnal is back on his Second Degree imprint this May with four original tracks. Growing up in the northern part of Holland, Keith Carnal has been carving out his very own corner of the techno scene for several years. Carnal has various releases on labels like Affin, ARTS, and, more recently, his Second Degree imprint, which he uses as an outlet for his material. Carnal has been busy in the studio in a year like no other, cooking up his signature atmospheric productions with sparkling tones and driving energy and is to be yet another productive year for the prolific Dutch producer. Tension-building cut 'Passed Out on the Sofa' kicks off the EP by layering entrancing arps, humming low frequencies, and icy hit hats keeping the energy flowing before 'Consumer Products' lays down resounding kicks, menacing synths which growl away above the rising pads. Next up on the flip, 'Charlie' is a fierce acid slammer featuring nasty 303s, compelling rhythms and emotive leads that brings harmony to all the elements. Rounding off this skilfully produced release in style, 'Commercial Zombies' unmasks a fizzing techno roller through dramatic atmospheres, hypnotic fx and raw percussion in yet another impressive EP from Carnal.

Appearing on the 20 year anniversary compilation from Drumcode, Truncate remixed "Miss You" off of my album, "Monoliths." Most remixes these days are completely different tracks from the original with almost zero material from the original. However, I think David did a great job of basically using only the source material actually 'remix' into it a completely new techno banger. People have been asking for this one for over a year, and it now it will finally be available.

Acid and break beat are coming back, and that can be heard in Jam El Mar’s remix. Jam El Mar drops a snapping acid line, thick kick and has a massive pad engulfing the mix, this is a big room techno anthem with a hint of trance.

EARLIEST MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
Maybe the most important musical influence was when I first heard Jimi Hendrix’s 'Voodoo Child' and the b-side 'All Along The Watchtower’. It was a five-inch single and ended up looking like a spiral, from the number of plays it got on my turntable.

This release was the ignition to become a guitarist and a musician. When Henrix played his hi-gain sounds it has the same intensity and expression similar to that of todays techno music, I think anyway. HIs guitar didn’t sound like a guitar, and more like an electrical thunderstorm.

Later when I discovered electronic music, it was mainly Tangerine Dream that has been a strong influence and Klaus Schulze. They had this intense atmosphere that you can maybe hear on some of my older productions that I did. When I heard the early R&S Records like 'Energy Flash', ‘Metasm' and 'Acid Phase' - I was set on fire with inspiration, and still am today.
 

IDEAL SETTING TO LISTEN TO THIS?
Most likely a main room techno party dance floor, with a top-notch sound system, sweat dripping from the walls and a comet passing by. LOL. I simply love high energy moments in contrast to deep vibes in a perfect flow. ‘Snake’ has these changes from major to minor that give it a certain intensity together with that sizzling tone building up throughout.
 

FILE IT NEXT TO?
‘Snake’ sits next to my collection amongst other atmospheric tracks like ‘Sooth’ also by 2Pole or ‘Premonitions’ by Saturn Storm, not forgetting Charlotte de Witte’s ‘The Healer’.

A storm gathers pace across southern France; "Arashi" erupts from the creative mind of Nure. White noise flashes and analogue synth lines bristle with electric energy. Brewing into a whirlwind of sound, vibrancy and power permeate through a cascade of motifs into a new sonic force.

A French connection sees storm clouds rise above Montreal where Solid Stone conducts a symphony of sound. Thunderclaps echo in distant percussive syncopation while rippling motifs shower from above. From Full Force to electronic intimacy and melodic precision across the lowlands, a frisson of excitement accompanies Chook. Fizzing, crackling energy is conducted through the raw bass power that rises up across open plains.

Control and precision play out through Berlin skies. Metronomic arpeggiation slides to and fro in a new sonic foundation. Variations on a theme flow from Fabian Vieregge's "Arashi". A maelstrom of sound courses through the senses to create a powerful and fresh storm front.

As the label approaches it’s 50th release, Alan celebrates sell out showcases across the globe, including The Warehouse Project Manchester, Fabric London, SWG3 Glasgow, Shine Belfast and their annual residency in Watergate, Berlin. For their 50th release, We Are The Brave offer us a massive six tracker, with three originals from the boss and some heavy remixes from Brennen Grey, Mark Broom and SAMA.

DJ, sound producer, resident of the Synthesis lab promo team and party organizer. His sets are in demand in techno clubs in Russia and Ukraine. A powerful, punchy and at the same time hypnotic sound is the artist's calling card. Since 2020, Ben Singular has included tracks in its own performances.
Musical taste began to form to the accompaniment of Prodigy, and a passion for DJing arose at the Global Gathering Ukraine 2009 festival. Since 2019, he has been organizing events in St. Petersburg (Bashni and Motive clubs) and Ukraine (Bermuda and Zephyr clubs). Ben understands the psychology of the dance floor, charges people with emotions and drive.
