PREMIERE | ArchivOne - Träume [SDF004]

HAVEN return with another killer EP from Berlin duo New Frames - Mathis Mootz (aka The Panacea) and David Frisch. There’s no messing around in their second release on the imprint, with the A1 track ‘Clownhouse Reality’ designed pummelling bodies with it’s driving 4-4 rhythms, spiky synths and perfect techno sound design. The A2 continues this formula with ‘Variation Is A Feature Not A Flaw’ - where the huge pounding drums and rolling break samples interplay with wailing sound effects and a lively side-chained mid-range synth in another dance-floor burner.

The tempos increase on the flip with the B1 track, ‘Proton Isospace’, leading the charge with its sinister melodic stabs, rolling drum patterns, and creeping washes of mid-bass guaranteed to get feet moving. The B2 ends the record with a massive Manni Dee remix of New Frames modern classic ‘Scatter’ released on the first Sardonic Tonality compilation back in 2019. The UK producer proves his mettle in this re-imagining with colossal drum work, a monster rap line, and a cheeky half-time build up to close out another hefty offering from the HAVEN camp.

Techno producer Darzack announces his debut album ‘Rhizom’ this June.

A spearhead figure in a new generation of techno producers in France, Théo Rocca, aka Darzack, has previously released music on Take Hit Records, VOLPHONIE, and his Maison Beryl imprint. Making appearances at festivals Panoramas and Les Transmusicales and holding a residency at Rex Club in Paris, the young artist’s first full-length record sees the DJ/producer cement his musical vision across a double LP.

Across ‘Rhizom’, Darzack delivers ten tracks, each created with a different collaborator, with Electric Rescue, 14Anger, ZPKF, Öspiel, Mmork and more contributing to the release. With all tracks displaying rhythmically irresistible grooves and intricate, detailed textures underpinned by firm industrial atmospherics, the album is a precise and direct vision of hard-hitting techno from one of the genre's finest upstarts. Positioning himself on the darkest side of techno without making the slightest concession, Darzack’s thrilling musical identity is as rebellious as it is meticulous.

“People on the techno circuit are often a bit too insular during the creative process, which is one aspect that I don’t much enjoy... That’s why I wanted to invite other artists I really like to contribute to my album. Some of them I’ve been dancing to since I was a teenager, like Electric Rescue; while others, who are younger, I want to support.” - Darzack

Involve Records releases its second VA to celebrate ten glorious years since 
its founding in 2012. After many release featuring the likes of Amelie Lens, 
FJAAK, Boston 168 and Regal himself, the label now welcomes uprising stars 
Fractions and legends David Moleon, DJ Ogi and The Geezer. 
First in line is Czech techno duo Fractions with Angel Lust, a stomping rave 
anthem for big stages, reflecting the sound they’re known for from releases on
labels such as Monnom Black and Possession. David Moleon is up next with 
Hold On, a groovy and rumbling techno cut with housy elements and chopped 
vocals creeping in between heavy kicks. DJ Ogi follows with Akturianac, an 
aggressive belter with rolling drums, sounding like it’s coming straight from the
early 2000’s. Stay Up Forever and Hydraulix hard techno legend The Geezer 
follows with an ecstatic and crack-brained melody on his banger track A Word 
About Your Soul, closing the EP with a bang.
