Following their VA compilation released earlier this year, Out of Place records is pleased to announce their 14th release. This time it is a four original tracks EP signed by the South France based duo Unspent. Big room techno with menacing synths provides an unforgettable 90s feel. Perfectly heady music for dance floors.

The title track “My Room My Rules” gives us the perfect retro feel with evocative synth riff,  saluting the 90s in such an elegant way. Undoubtedly the record's most climactic moment.

“Host Unreachable” kicks things off with a more subtle vibes. The careful arrangement of a deeper, yet rolling baselines combined with a very sharp drums and mystical melodies. It builds up tension captivating  listener in the constant expectation of more. 

“Lost Normalcy” displays an undoubtedly great skills combining modern production whilst staying true to the core of the Techno genre. Hypnotic, yet danceable weapon for sophisticated DJs.

“Unstable Chorals” comes last as a fantastic closing track of this well-thought out release which dives back to harmonically more sinister territories. Perfect track for generating powerful moments of release on the dance-floor.

Unspent - Host Unreachable [Artaphine Premiere]

Jurriaan Jansen, also known as 'Jancen,' is a techno producer/dj from Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Growing up in a family deeply immersed in music it was not unlikely that he would start his own musical journey. At the age of 14, he was introduced to the techno sound during a sound check at Awakenings. However, it took another 14 years later that he began producing music himself.

His musical style is influenced by classic dub techno, characterized by a faster and more driving rhythm complemented by a subby low end. This distinctive blend has seen him release on compilations by Mutual Rytm and Be As One, as well as E.P.s on labels such as Drawner and Mitsubasa.

Jansen's music has found resonance across borders, with recent performances in Berlin at venues like About Blank and Kater Blau.

BCCO Podcast 350: Jancen

BCCO Podcast 363 is a special live recording from Confusion's closing set at the Raserei party at Disco Zwei where he played after Matrixxman.

Confusion is a Heidelberg-based producer and resident DJ of the Raserei collective. Expect punchy rhythms, minimalist synths, and trippy pads that maintaining a consistent energy. Drawing inspiration from his roots as a drummer Confusion also finds creative influence in his appreciation for ambient soundscapes, IDM, and other experimental electronic genres.

In recent years, his focus has expanded to crafting stripped-down yet minimalistic techno tools. Alongside many self-releases, remixes, and VA appearances on labels like Schimmer Records, Duplicity, and SOPTIK, he has earned recognition with releases on platforms such as the Berlin-based SYXT, PRX Records, and Adapter. 

Confusion's music has garnered support from established artists including DVS1, Luke Slater, Setaoc Mass, Rene Wise, Marrøn, Border One, Kaiser, and Lea Occhi.

French DJ and Producer, Klint has made a name for himself in the upper echelons of the techno scene at the speed of light. From his debut in 2021 with his first vinyl on Planet Rhythm, to his latest opus for Chris Liebing's label, CLR (Immersive Culture EP 2024), the Montpellier-based artist has accumulated releases that turn heads, offering himself a solid place in the techno charts. He can notably be found on vinyls with Dustin Zahn, Luke Slater and Mark Broom. All the support from the most respected DJs on the world scene (Ben Klock, Rødhåd, Slam, Chris Liebing...) only confirms that the music produced by the Frenchman does not leave one indifferent and that great things are to come.
