Dark and Deep

For the eight year, I’ve been putting together this mix which is a personal selection / exploration of healing and transformative music: songs that have a deep sense of spirituality without being religious in nature. A feeling that can be found in music of all genres, eras and cultures.

On a usual year anywhere on the planet, a beautiful spring morning feels like a precious gift. However these past 12 months have been anything but usual. I would like to dedicate this mix to all that have lost loved ones, faced difficulties and personal challenges.

The music is really useful for yoga for beginners, yoga exercises, yoga chants influenced by indian songs, african music, soothing music that has a calming effect. It sometimes puts you into a yoga trance. If you are familiar with the work of yogscast, hare krishna, michael franti, and keshna be sure to use this. If you are into massage therapy these soothing relaxing nature sounds and peaceful light instrumental music will help you relax mind and body and keep you relaxed throughout the day.

Relaxation and Spa:
The light instrumentals can really be useful after a long hard day of work to unwind and enjoy the peaceful sound of our music. Imagine the spa music, nature sounds, rain sounds, light piano, easy listening instruments are used in these tracks for ultimate relaxation. Coming soon on Optimo Music is the next wave of unique talent to emerge from Glasgow, once again recorded in the near legendary Green Door studio.

Four tracks of highly original, impossible to pigeonhole dancefloor, not dancefloor music.

Junto Club are four men from Glasgow who have remained friends since they were teenagers through creating music they love. Whilst learning new instruments during a long winter their sound was fashioned unexpectedly with sporadic melodies overlaid on taut drum machines, synthesizers and bass guitar. Many humble dance moves followed as the band began to carouse behind closed doors with their newly found rhythm.

Optimo Music 027 - Junto Club - Junto Club 12" EP (sampler)



In early 2015, Italian electronic producer Fabrizio Mammarella aka Telespazio released an excellent debut full length on Hell Yeah, and now the label offers up four tracks from it remixed by modern greats Kito Jempere, Wolf Muller, Harvey Sutherland and Tempelhof.

In original form the album was a truly unique and idiosyncratic journey into a freaky sound world. Now it has new moods and groves layer into it and becomes just as exciting a proposition as a result.

Up first, Russian Kito Jempere, who has previously released on labels like Freerange, serves up a mid tempo, cosmic work out of ‘Glide Shot’ with smeared synths and loosely jumbled percussion. It’s a perfect early evening track before notoriously weird and eccentric producer jan Schulte aka Wolf Muller, who has released great disco oddities on Themes For Great Cities, then goes slow with his take on ‘Barrier’. Slowly percolating percussion, whistling synths, sci-fi melodies and more all make this a proper freaky curveball.

Echovolt man and melodic deep house craftsmen Harvey Sutherland then layers up globular arps with skyward pads and thin, sheet metal hits to craft something that is propulsive yet beautiful. It’s a patient, spacious remix full of summer soul that really makes you feel good.

Lastly, Tempelhof, who have themselves released excellent ambient works on this label before now, turn ‘Nuvolari’ into a a blissful bit of cosmic and atmospheric chug disco. It will have your head reeling back and your eyes scanning the night sky at the same time as making you dance, and closes out another fantastic package from Hell Yeah.

BONECHURCH has been floating around the periphery of ANNIHILVS activities for the past few years. The solo ambient-ritual-deathindustrial project of Ben "Abstract" Hudgins, BONECHURCH takes its lead from all corners of the obscure audio world, constructed from a broad palette of influences, yet remaining singular in focus. Fans of COIL, MUSLIMGAUZE, TECHNO-ANIMAL and SCORN will find just as much to like here as will fans of MZ.412 or MEGAPTERA. This was originally a self-release, but we felt obligated to snatch it up and produce it as an APEX edition. It only makes sense for BONECHURCH to make a home here.

Schwefelgelb is the electronic music project of Sid & Eddy. Having carefully straddled the boundaries between Techno, EBM and Electro, the duo is entering 2016 with a 12” release on the new label incarnation of the Berlin based Fleisch collective. Fleisch consists of a group of miscreants known for throwing some of the best curated dark underground dance parties in Berlin, with a focus on sounds ranging from E.B.M., new beat, acid to techno. The metamorphosis of Fleisch into a label could not demand a more fitting debut than Schwefelgelb’s newest sonic discharge. Tight programming, catchy analog synth-bass coupled with well utilized & frenetic shouted vocals echo the golden age of Electronic Body Music. A refreshing progression of sounds moves the style forward without being afflicted with the formulaic and hollow tendencies befallen similar attempts by others acts over the years.
