UK Funky Guestmix for Tailor Jae on Reprezent Radio

Having met via a booking at London based event ‘Flexx' run by Emily Dust and Tasty Lopez, James aka Murder He Wrote and Tasty got to work on some demos early last summer. Subsequently road tested at Bestival and Boomtown and with the RKS fam running them out and about throughout the tail end of 2017, the finishing touches to the release were applied in January with the VIP mix of Game Over completing the package. Early radio support has come from Toddla T giving premieres on Radio 1 & 1Xtra to both Nasty & Game Over VIP. The release finally touches down on the label on March 2nd. 

Murder He Wrote is showing no signs of slowing down, jumping into 2018 with a new release after a successful 2017 which saw him come with an appearance on the RKS Allstars series, two editions of his Flavoured EPs and a flurry of remixes for the likes of Konshens & Lao Ra, Wrongtom and Alma. 

RKS is celebrating 10 years of releasing good music on the 31st March at London’s Queen of Hoxton with Murder He Wrote on the line up and some sick guests. Whilst still performing in the UK and the rest of Eurpoe, James is also commencing his debut tour of Asia/Australasia in April following in Roska’s footsteps and sowing the UK funky seed overseas.

Ali McK & IYZ x Dryman - Infected Strings

1Forty welcomes another producer out of the increasingly large pool of Midlands talent - FOZO. ‘Funk Will Roll’ is a bouncy Funky and Grime hybrid bootleg of one of dance musics classic records.. A-Traks Remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s ‘Heads Will Roll’.

Up to now the Derby based producer has climbed the ranks through the club scene as a DJ, becoming one of Krudd’s main residents in Nottingham. Wind the clock back 5 years and Fozo first jumped on a pair of decks at a youth club at the tender age of 14. Production also peaked his interest at a similar time, and some 3 years later when regular bookings started to come through is when he began to knuckle down and think about a potential career in music.

Since then Krudd has given him a leg up to play at a whole host of Nottinghams most popular venues including Trade, Brickworks, The Irish Centre, The Basement and thus lead him to bookings further afield at the likes of Lakota (Bristol). Throughout this time supporting the likes of Jaykae, D Double E, Holy Goof, Skepsis, TQD, Notion, Conducta, Jamie Duggan & loads more.

Through earning his stripes and proving himself as one of the Midlands best upcoming DJ’s spinning all things Bass and Funky, its even seen him go north to the likes of Tank alongside the newly awarded Best MC at the Bass Music Awards 2019 - Bru-C as well as featuring on the Lincoln leg of Darkzy's 'Dark Nights' Tour in 2018. The start of Spring 2019 saw FOZO play the Amsterdam Spring Break Festival and with this being his debut label release, which has already gathered early support from Marcus Nasty after a Premier on Rinse FM the future is looking very bright..

"One of the most consistent curator channels in modern broken and bass music" (Juno Download)

Articulate Sound are a midlands based, digital label that are at the forefront of the UK underground bass scene. Set out to give undiscovered, upcoming artists a platform and foundation to showcase their talent, and to look for individual styles and sounds you won’t hear anywhere else. Articulate specialise in UK Bass, UK Funky and Breaks however covering all spectrums of the scene, from Bassline to Grime they have it covered.

Founded in 2015 as a promotional Soundcloud channel, they then went on to release a succession of free compilations, featuring artists from all over the world such as Landis LaPace and Cellardore to name a few. In the closing months of 2016, they then took it a step further and released a huge joint collaboration with renowned promoter, distributor and publisher Pack London. Although only being a free channel, Articulate Sounds releases have received support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1Xtra, Rinse, Represent and Radar amongst many others.

Along with releasing over 140 tracks for over 70 different artists, Articulate Sound have now also launched their own events, showcasing their extensive roster and some of the best upcoming artists in the underground scene, with TC4, Darkzy and Murder He Wrote headlining thus far.

In 2017, Articulate grew even stronger, hitting number 1 in the UKG and Breakbeat charts with their debut official release by Daze Prism, receiving support from the likes of My Nu Leng, DJ EJ and many others and even getting called “one of the most consistent curator channels in modern broken and bass music” by Juno Download. Articulate then went onto hit number 1 again for Doc Zee’s debut release “Feel Free”, which has since been featured in the likes of DJMag and Dummy. Finishing off 2017 Articulate released their final EP of the year titled “PINK GUN” by Ivo and went onto be called “One of our standout labels of 2017 for a top draw project” by Juno Download themselves. 2018 has been no calmer for Articulate, already releasing Spectrum’s debut single “Resonate” in January aswell as having releases lined up for the next 12 months that are sure to cook up a storm, it’s fair to say Articulate are not a label to sleep on.
