Antoni Maiovvi’s debut EP on Italo Moderni with four original tracks influenced by the Bakalao from Valencia in the 90’s. The so-called ”Ruta Destroy” was a direct hit to the “Movida Valenciana” and consisted of the largest clubbing movement in Spain. It started in certain aspects the clubbing movement in the country, and had long-term consequences on the form of nightlife in Spain. Including a remix by Jensen Interceptor and Cardopusher.

The night sky was lit by the flames of the flickering candles that bordered the clearing — it was the only light for miles and miles. Here they were far away from everything, and where there were no signs of civilisation, there were no interruptions. Those lucky enough to be welcomed into this ritual were all here for one reason or another. But the overriding motivation was finding something beyond the realms of reality; an intangible and unspoken force that could lead them to a higher state of consciousness. 

Tagliabue's organic approach to production has yielded cosmic and trance-inducing releases for the likes of Lustpoderosa, Cosmica Music and Blue Sea, under this alias and his given name Joseph Tagliabue. Elephant Gait Music is the next home for his transcendental musings, this time coming in the form of his debut mini-album Ambiente Sonoro. Like his previous releases, the music is cerebral and enchanting, merging eerie chants, droning atmospheres and ritualistic sounds with 70s library music and IDM influences à la Daniela Casa, Egisto Macchi, Global Communication and Coil.

IMPACT extends a conversation that Jorkes had with Lisa Jäge about how essential parties are for freedom of expression. During those times, it was brought home that club culture is vital for exchanging ideas and feelings, drives change and provokes debate about everything from gender identification to sexual liberation. As such, the pair set up discussions under titles such as 'Clubs as Places for Freedom and Emancipation' at the WAF Galerie that Lisa co-curates. Planned talks will coincide with the two further installments of IMPACT, the first of which manifests musically with this six-track collection.

Russian-Armenian collective Delicate Features open up and describe the music they make as 'soundtracks to Rene Magritte's pictures, where day and night exist together.' Their 'Without You' is a beautifully delicate and late-night track with spine-tingling vocals and icy chords. On Bells then feature d.r.a.b. on 'Alive', three minutes of heavenly vocals offset by dark bass and chords. There is a bitter-sweet melancholy to it that leaves a lasting impression. Venice Arms is a new side project from acclaimed dark disco artist Curses, and 'On Ur Mind' is a cavernous bass track with old school jungle influences and shimmering melodies that bring a state of euphoria.

Berlin-based, Italy-born Younger Than Me is a rebel who brings old rave energy to new school club sounds on labels, including Duro and NEIN. His 'Miss Gilda' is a slow and heavy groove with grinding drums and coarse synths unfolding up top. Birds is East London's Katie Wilkinson, who fuses new wave 80s goth, techno, psychedelic and experimental on her shadowy and bleak yet alluring 'A Pointless Trip'. Last comes Germany based US emigree Zamal, a Dj who holds a residency at the label's Romantica Club parties. Here he brings his broad musical taste to 'Inthevoid', a deep and dynamic techno track with cerebral synths.

German label ‘Banned In Vegas’ presents their second volume of the Series One Compilation, including a bunch of friends and local heroes as Liepzig-based producer Blume Attempt. He dropped ‘Dissolved’ a slow acid break, in a pure 90’s big-beat tradition, punctuated by a heavy guitar bass, but gave it a strong melancholic and rainy mood which gives this tune in a unique dark and cinematic taste. Interstellar Funk & Robert Valera roll out a wealth of EBM, darkwave and acid leaning electronics in a new instalment for Olf van Elden’s (Interstellar Funk) label Artificial Dance. Devil’s Juice is a split twelve and the result of two analog recording sessions that took place in New York and Amsterdam in 2019.

Van Elden and Valera met each other through mutual friends, sharing a love for deep and twisted bassline explorations, visceral melodies and analog machine funk. Interstellar Funk has been releasing music through labels like Rush Hour, Dekmantel, L.I.E.S. and Berceuse Heroique, Devil’s Juice is a premiere for releasing his personal productions on his own imprint. Robert Valera is a seasoned live performer but this will be his first release. Devil’s Juice is a testament of Van Elden’s and Varela’s fascination for analog instruments and how they are able to communicate in spontaneous and unpredictable ways.

With its punchily sluggish bassline and churning synth-wave action, ‘Serge’ is straight up dance floor material boasting a contemporary take on early eighties darkwave esthetics. ‘Devil’s Juice’ taps in on an equally slow(ish) tempo, a highly infectious melody fluttering playfully over raw, machine driven rhythmic patterns.

On the flip, the two producers switch it up a gear, going full throttle on ‘North Sea’, unleashing a torrent of virtuosic acid-esque synth tweaks and proper percussive fury, strapping arps and moody pads. ‘Klangin’ ignites the jack firing shrapnel snares and ruffed-up bass with rotor-jawed atmospheres, serving up a gloomy anthem inked with swirling arpeggios.

This time he is remixing for the Rumba Bisnes crew and has turned in a corker of a track which pumps up the late night atmosphere and has enough 303 sounds to melt through several floors of a stranded spaceship infested with Xenomorphs while still keeping you at the dancefloor at 4am.
