Mike Griffin (Artifical FireTiger) in his early years lived in South Africa, Bahrain and Japan. He learned guitar his early teens but his passion always remained with keyboards and creating synthesised music. For a number of years Artifical Tiger explored various technologies and genres in order find an identity as he grew up through the early EDM (Electronic Dance Music) scene. Attending early raves, the pilgrimage to Ibiza before the super DJ set and constantly being awed by the way technology affects the musical process.

Jolly Joker is a DJ and producer of electronic music, known for his style that blends techno, trance and progressive influences. His career has been characterized by continuous evolution, pushing more and more the boundaries of genres and trying to create a sound that was both powerful, emotional and engaging. With a passion for sound experimentation and a unique approach to production, Jolly Joker has managed to earn a prominent place in the international underground scene.

Born in Genoa and now based in Milan and Miami, Jolly Joker has developed a deep interest in electronic music from a young age. Raised in a musical context full of stimuli, he approached the dance scene of the 90s, a period in which genres such as trance and techno began to dominate the dance floors. His passion for these sounds pushed him to become a DJ, performing in local clubs and perfecting his technique.

His DJ career took off when he started referring to the big names on the European scene, but it's with his transition to music production that he's really caught on, developing a sound that mixes dreamy atmospheres with powerful bass and energetic rhythms.

Jolly Joker is known for his ability to mix the intensity of techno with the dreamy atmospheres and engaging trance melodies. The evolution of his sound is also the reflection of his double base, between Milan, the epicenter of the Italian techno scene, and Miami, a crossroads of global electronic music, which allowed him to come into contact with different musical cultures, further enriching his repertoire.

"Sugarstealer’s 2552 is a bold statement record - one that seems to straddle the line between immersive listen and club-minded machinery. On one hand, it rewards deep, repeated listens; on the other, many of its sonic decisions clearly consider how tracks might live in a DJ’s crate.

What’s immediately striking is how the album embraces contrast: atmospheric soundscapes versus propulsive rhythm. It doesn’t commit fully to one lane (e.g. purely ambient, purely dancefloor), but instead leverages tension between those poles.

For fans, 2552 offers thematic depth, mood shifts, and textural surprises. For DJs, it offers usable sections, transitions, and some floor-ready energy without sacrificing musical integrity.

One of the biggest strengths of 2552 is its sound design  -subtle but intentional. The production is not overstuffed; there’s room for echoes, negative space, and gradual build. Sugarstealer favors evolving textures: pads swell, unusual percussion elements flicker in and out, reverb tails stretch, and field recordings or ambient noises occasionally creep into the mix.

From a DJ perspective, this is gold: intros and outros are often forgiving, giving you room to mix in or out without jarring jumps. The use of filters, delays, and modulation make many of the transitions feel organic.

The pacing of 2552 is deliberate. It tends to open up space before building tension, rather than dropping into full force immediately. This suits fans who like slow burns and subtle emotional arcs.

There’s a sense of cinematic storytelling: tracks shift in mood, sometimes even mid-track. You might start in something minimal and brooding, and then a sub-melody or rhythmic shift kicks in halfway, recontextualizing what came before.

For DJs, some of those shifts can be leveraged: a breakdown might make a great moment to drop in another track, or to filter out drums and layer in something complementary.

Lyrically or thematically (depending on how much vocal content is used), there’s a feeling of looking both forward and backward - futuristic but haunted, mechanical but human. That duality gives the album emotional weight beyond just sonic experimentation.

Sugarstealer avoids leaning so far into experimentation that the tracks become unusable in mix contexts. Yet, he also resists the trap of making purely functional club tracks. That hybrid is delicate, and 2552 largely succeeds.

The album evokes moods - spaces, memories, tension -not just beats. It draws the listener in emotionally.

It’s not static. There are shifts in density, tone, rhythm, instrumentation. That keeps repeat listens fresh.

Because of thoughtful intros/outros and modulation, a DJ can blend in or out more gracefully than in many other albums of similar scope.

Fans should approach 2552 not just as a background or dance album, but as a journey. Pay attention to details: how textures morph, how silence is used, how emotional peaks and valleys emerge. Let it grow on you on repeated plays.

DJs should identify the “usable zones” in each track: the parts with clean beats, intros/outros with more space, breakdowns or drops that align with other tempos. Experiment with layering -sometimes combining a minimal segment with an external percussion loop or synth can unlock new possibilities.

2552 by Sugarstealer is an album that stands in that sweet spot where listening and mixing potential overlap. It’s not just an experimental side project -it's got real utility. It rewards deep listenership while offering tangible building blocks for DJs.

If I were to give it a rating (in relative terms within its niche), it lands high: a work of vision that doesn’t sacrifice usability. It’s the kind of album that can become a hidden backbone in a set or a late-night playlist that lingers in the mind long after the final fade."
