Throughout the history of the Jungle / Drum & Bass people have always had a soft spot for the more soulful, deep side of the genre. Some people have resisted the urge to join the ever-increasing upward trajectory of aggression and loudness, and one artist that fits within this box is Carlito. He has always stayed true to the roots; Always jazzy, always soulful, and always rolling.

Carlito & Addiction (his duo alias with DJ Addiction) have been at the forefront of Drum & Bass ever since its original movement, with residencies at two London club nights that helped shaped the scene we all know and love today - Speed (later Swerve) and Movement. The duo played a vital role in shaping the more musical side of Drum and Bass and are frequently referenced as a source of inspiration by emerging talent. 

'Heart In Her Hands' is the first taste of a very exciting new project from Carlito on Liquid V.

After five years of planning, writing, and refining their sound, London-based production duo Kolectiv are set to release their long-awaited debut drum & bass album, Circadian Rhythms.

The project began in the aftermath of the pandemic, when the pair started setting aside tracks that captured the spirit of a night out at a drum & bass event. Their vision was clear: to create an album that reflects the variety, energy, and progression of a rave – from the first beats that pull you into the closing sounds that carry you home.

“Going out to drum & bass nights, you’d hear so many different flavours across six or seven hours. We wanted the album to follow that same arc – like a circadian rhythm, a natural flow of time, but in this case the cycle of a rave,” Kolectiv explain.

To achieve this, the duo placed a strong emphasis on originality and sound design. Most of the album was built from scratch using their own recorded samples, crafted through sessions with keys, drums, and guitars, and only dipping into external sources when absolutely necessary. Vocal collaborations from PAV4N, Hijak MC, Illmatika and Kerry Donnelly add unique flavour to the project, while carefully placed interludes tie the project together as a complete listening experience.

“This isn’t just a collection of tracks. We wanted it to be a journey – a cradle-to-grave kind of experience – with highs, lows, and moments to breathe.”

The title Circadian Rhythms captures that intention perfectly: an audio diary of a night spent immersed in drum & bass culture, told through Kolectiv’s trademark blend of technical precision and emotional depth.

The project also coincided with a complete studio overhaul, giving Kolectiv a fresh environment to finalize and mix down the record with a renewed sense of clarity and focus.

With Circadian Rhythms, Kolectiv deliver more than an album – they present a story, an atmosphere, and a tribute to the music and culture that shaped them.

It was back in 2005 with "Desperado," Warner and Herweijer first hit international acclaim; their mesmeric tune was hailed as Radio 1’s esteemed accolade: Number 1 Drum & Bass Tune of The Year and remains one of the greatest DnB tracks of all-time. In that same year their single "Uprising" was voted by the public as the biggest DnB track of the year (BBC Radio 1).
