Harley D returns to Serial Killaz, fully prepared for all out war having spent the last 6 months putting together an arsenal of ‘Battle Dubz’ and the result is of course all out sonic devastation.

From the 80’s synth driven title track, full of enthusiastic tear your face off vibes and 100 miles per hour rap battle lyrics to ‘Your Love’ and it’s filtered out Amen breaks, hardcore style pitched up vocals and occasional hands in the air moments, this brand new EP has something for everyone. If you’re thinking of going head to head in a sound clash, selection is no doubt key so forget your triple drops and anthem bashing. What you really need is a slice of ‘Champion Sound’ and its mysterious chords, gritty ragga vocals and a bassline taken straight from a ton of analogue gear. Fancy something a bit off the wall? Give ‘Who’s a Badman’ a go, full of experimental breakbeats and flammable lyrics. Point your finger across the dance via the smoke and lazers and ask the question.

Fans of new school jump up will love ‘Don’t Do That’, especially if you like your brain being melted with sublow frequencies. ‘I Need It’ mixes uptempo flair with female vox, creating a perfect opportunity for mixing up styles mid set so pattern up your USB and bring forth the big switch.

What you will notice about Hardley D’s production is although he’s still under 30 years of age, the roots of jungle music seem to run through his blood. There is no doubt that the Serial Killaz crew have put their knowledge and wisdom to good use signing this talented and versatile producer.

Inter-Cellar 010 || Ruckus

This full length album for Headz from Jungle Drum & Bass alumni Dom & Roland comes at a perfect time for the artist and the label, it follows his massive ‘Outta Endz / Unofficial Jah remix’ release and comes at a time where the label has been at its most fertile in recent memory.

The album harks back to pioneering 90s aesthetic of the music but it doesn’t feel retrospective, in fact it feels futuristic - a thread that Dom has made sure ties all his work together.  The reference points for the album stretch far and wide, from the inspiring and equally green eyed Sunday Sessions at Blue Note to RZA’s approach to sampling.

Dom’s own words on the album perhaps shed the most light: “The album is inspired and processed via a collection of moments I had through growing up, the things i was into, memories of good and bad times i'd had and the music i was listening to at the time”

Commix expands on the Generation EP series, EP 1 was a reintroduction via new material peppered with unreleased classic material. EP 2 is all new material and we're very excited to be able to release it. The EP spans BPMs and palettes, it’s the sound of Commix not only sharing his influences but adding to those influences with his own contributions. t's not out of hand to say that Commix is one of he most integral drum 'n' bass acts of the last 15 years. It may only be the solo project of George Levings these days, following the departures of Conrad Whittle and Guy Brewer, but the name's associated with piles of d'n'b treasure.

Premiere: Commix 'Honey'

DC175 comes courtesy of Alias, a new project comprising of Harvey & Ryan McKay, who are two acts who have previously released solo material on the label. Harvey McKay’s last appearance was in late 2016 when he dropped ‘The Mad Drummer’ on A-Sides Vol. 4 whereas Ryan McKay’s last outing was in 2015 when he appeared on A-Sides Vol.3 under the name Skiver. This is the first collaborative project between the Scottish duo under their new moniker Alias.

The EP opens with ‘Pentatonic’; A tough sounding track that has been designed for the forward-thinkers. ‘The Truth’ follows up sharply, with vintage piano stabs and a vocal that gives the track abounding energy. The on-point percussion leads you on a trip of pure rapture. The release closes with the apocalyptic ‘Dream Taker’, which is teeming with sinister vocal action, hostile synth work and a sublime way to sign off.

Enrico Sangiuliano - Astral Projection

Drumcode continues its commitment to releasing the scene’s most cutting-edge techno. With releases this year already from Adam Beyer, Pig&Dan, Alan Fitzpatrick, Dense & Pika and Julian Jeweil, this July see’s the return of Enrico Sangiuliano with ‘Astral Projection’.

After his remix of Moby’s of ‘Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad’ back in November last year, Enrico sought creative inspiration from his travels, transcending that into his productions and long studio sessions during the winter months. The result brings a mind and body melting release from the Italian producer.

The title track ‘Astral Projection’ is a captivating, big room techno masterpiece. Deep reverberations punch alongside a sinisterly crisp percussive drive. Launching into a groove laden synth modulation of low end textures, it breaks down into an ethereal amalgamation of pads and synths before the vocal launches, taking this track to another level.

‘Blooming Era’ has destructive dancefloor intent. There is no holding back with the low end synth modulation which Enrico has mastered to perfection. A tightly woven percussive flare moulds flawlessly with the rolling oscillations of the beast of this track.

If you have seen label head honcho Adam Beyer playing anywhere on the globe in the last 5 months, this has been a peak time favourite. Road-tested to the max, and with much success.

Enrico Sangiuliano - Astral Projection - Drumcode - DC176

Drumcode returns with its 6th installment of the internationally celebrated A-Sides series. Renowned for fostering a shared space between industry tastemakers and rising talent alike, the careful curation that goes into each volume is a fine example of why Beyer’s brand continues to go from strength to strength.

Techno titan Adam Beyer has grown Drumcode into a force to be reckoned with; the label has become synonymous with forward-thinking, functional techno and even after 20 years, Drumcode continues to find new boundaries to push, and ways to solidify its legacy as the world’s number one techno label. 

2017 is no exception, with Beyer’s imprint hosting it’s first stage at Tomorrowland, not to mention the expansion of the critically acclaimed Junction 2 where the Drumcode stage is the centrepiece and Adam plays the key role of festival director. The Drumcode phenomenon continues to grow each week, chiefly fuelled by Drumcode Radio, Adam’s radio show that’s broadcast in 57 countries via 86 stations and to a global audience of 16 million techno fans per week. 

The A-Sides series acts as a perfect vignette of Drumcode’s cutting-edge sound; functional yet inspired techno, all tracks tried and tested by Beyer himself. Vol. 6 continues this tradition with a collection of 16 multi-faceted cuts from a mixture of both emerging artists and experienced label friends. 

The heart-throbbing bass in Amelie Lens’ electrifying piece ‘In Silence’ sets the tone for the dark and dance-floor-ready energy that Vol.6 carries the whole way through. Other standouts include Mars Bill’s rough’n’ready ‘Mohave’. Pulsating and precise, ‘Mohave’ has highlighted many of Beyer’s sets recently as has Wehbba’s monster track ‘Fake’, which fans have been anticipating the release of all year. 

Label-favourites Dense & Pika also feature on ‘A-Sides’ Vol. 6 with their hard-hitting ‘Just a Beat’ and a huge track from Beyer himself who has joined forces with Enrico Sangiuliano to bring us their undeniably infectious ‘Preset Heaven’. 

With many more notable selections from the likes of Julian Jewell, Timmo, Tiger Stripes and Pig&Dan, A-Sides Vol. 6 is another impressive addition to the label’s prolific release roster and a testament to why Drumcode remains at the forefront of the electronic world.

Adam Beyer returns with his first solo EP in five years.

The Drumcode founder is measured when it comes to signing music to his own imprint, biding his time till the stars align. His last individual outing was 2015’s ‘Stone Flower’ EP, which included the thrilling label favourite ‘What You Need’. A succession of classy collaborations followed, linking with DC’s most vital artists highlighted by ‘Your Mind’ with Bart Skils, proclaimed one of the best tracks of the last decade by Mixmag.

An EP that gives a nod to uncertain times, while remaining resolutely positive, ‘No Defeat No Retreat’ was written during Beyer’s fruitful production sessions during lockdown. The opening track, ‘Park People’ sets the pace with an energetic, 80’s new wave creating the track’s spine. Its hypnotic energy stems from a powerful synth riff and vocal sample culminating in a skilfully balanced track that neatly combines the old with the new. The title track is a study in contrasts, deftly crafting a muted, nagging vocal hook and infectious bassline into a slice of forward-facing, edgy techno. With its subtle, undulating layers of melody building in the background, it ushers in an understated sense of euphoria, making it a perfect end-of-set mood-maker. A thrilling return!

Artillery is a DJ and Producer from Oxford who likes to explore the darker sounds of a variety of different genres. Currently, his main focus is Drum and Bass but he is also producing 140 and trap. He leans towards the more minimal sounds and is heavily inspired by a wide range of different influences. From gothic artwork and old school horror movies to modern Hip Hop and dnb labels such as Metalheadz… Artillery brings a fusion of all that inspires him into his craft. He has already worked with the likes of Deeper DNB and is a well loved resident at Phase Records DNB.
