STORIES IN THE WALL 2024 | LET'S GO WILD!

Stories in the Wall is a collaboration between Arts Centre Melbourne and selected Victorian primary schools in which students work closely alongside professional playwrights to create and develop a radio play.

This year we worked with 40 students from Gilgai Plains Primary School and explored the theme: LET'S GO WILD! Students worked over 7 weeks to develop scripts then record their radio plays.

The last creative component to bring these stories to life was music composition and sound design. This saw a collaboration with the University of Melbourne's Faculty of Fine Arts and Music - home of the Victorian College of the Arts and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. We worked closely with 4emerging composers who created original music and sound to amplify the stories enabling us as listeners to immerse ourselves into the world created by our young writers!

This year we set a challenge for our young writers and encouraged them to write dialogue in language. Our young people accepted this challenge and showcased and celebrated their languages and cultural backgrounds!

We had dialogue in Punjabi, Tongan, Turkish, Spanish and Arabic. Can you guess which stories have these languages in?
