More than a house for books is a three-part series of podcasts highlighting the positive impact that libraries have on the community.  The first episode, Libraries for young people, We'll hear from Elaine Wilkinson at Vivacity in Peterborough, who create arts programmes aimed at engaging young people in literature and storytelling. This episode also includes panel discussion from Tracy Ann Oberman, Actor and Writer, Sarah Mears, Library Services Manager for Essex County Council, and Owen Hutchings, Arts in libraries officer for St Helens Council.

The Digital R&D Fund for the Arts is a £7 million fund for organisations with arts projects based in England working in collaboration with technology providers and researchers. The fund supports new digital research and development projects that aim to expand audience research and/or develop new business models. To apply you need to have a project idea and form a three-way partnership made up of an organisation with an arts project, a technology provider and a researcher.

Arts Council England champions, develops and invests in artistic and cultural experiences that enrich people’s lives. We support a range of activities across the arts, museums and libraries – from theatre to digital art, reading to dance, music to literature, and crafts to collections. Great art and culture inspires us, brings us together and teaches us about ourselves and the world around us. In short, it makes life better. Between 2015 and 2018, we plan to invest £1.1 billion of public money from government and an estimated £700 million from the National Lottery to help create these experiences for as many people as possible across the country.
