When Rain Falls on A1 is a techno monster with a DAF-influenced bassline ripping it. The Black Chamber on A2 comes along as a dark and spooky tune with lots of playful sounds in it.

On the B-side The Black Chamber is being turned into a superfunctional and effective dancefloor weapon by SAMUEL L. SESSION in his remix.

Second release of Claudia Cazacu on Gate Null, which shows her great skill. Amazing and epic is his original mix featured by the JFK’s speech. She arranges her pick-time monster always working on a swelling bassline rooted in a devastating kick drum and eclectic grooves, riddled with an epic synth line that makes a great techno pressure. No other Artist can be involved on the remix duty than the label boss Andrea Frisina, who has a long experience and skill to fit historical speeches in techno weapons. His version is a big room track featured by his famous and recognisable dark mood. Amazing, as per usual, is the breakdown, where he inserts the speech in full, which seems exactly arranged to introduce the elements with which Andrea builds the “crescendo”, preparing the floor to the smasher second part of his mix.

'The Wonk' is our pick of the tracks on the new record and it's about as high-octane as it gets. The low-end is savage and ever-present, the hi-hats and snares give it even more pace and that title? Well that refers to the alien-melody that wavers in-and-out of focus like some sort of mutant laser. 

This is not only techno music that we can see Klock dropping at the Berghain, but also techno that's going to take Dax J to same dizzy-heights as the genre's current flag-bearer.

With the release of this set of remixes Figure head Len Faki reveals previously unseen shades of both the source material and his own musical identity. Produced over the course of last year and originally never intended to come out, the Hidden Objects were to remain just that – hidden from anyone but Faki himself who was privately developing a different side of his in the studio.
This effort first lead to deliberately constructing an antipode to Slam’s Cirklon Bells. Contrasting grainy distorted noise and stuttering drums against the light and ambient melody of the original, the remix turns into a bittersweet yet beautifully soothing listen.
Feeling inspired by this novel approach of turning a track’s atmosphere and energy by means of opposition, Faki decided to apply it again to one of last year’s biggest remixes, his own re- interpretation of Scuba’s Black on Black. This time going into the opposite white direction, a more musical and melodic side of Len Faki is allowed to shine through when big, anthemic pads hover over a bouncy bassline and an epic breakdown gives ample room for the track’s groove to rebuild from scratch.
Finally the newfound workflow sees Faki take on Philippe Petit’s Suspened off his recent EP for Figure SPC. Building upon the original’s quivering melody, Faki injects it with serious momentum by carefully added skittering percussion and some deeply moving bass, thus taking the already uplifting vibe even further.

Label boss comes back on his imprint with an huge EP titled “Centaurus”. The first star of the constellation is “Alpha Centauri”, a monster track ready to destroy some dance floor, just check the groove and the massive bassline, this tune will drive you into a clinical madness. The second, but the nearest, star is “Proxima Centauri”, this is a deep techno anthem, the pad’s and synth’s cords are epic, the percussions drive the track to an emotional breakdown, which will lull and then bring the listener back to an euphoric state of mind.

To say the release of this EP's tracks is long-awaited would be a terribly gross understatement, so it's with much fanfare and general HQ excitement that we announce the sophomore release from the monstrously talented Ross From Friends. 

Having been circulating on the net for a fair while now, 'Talk To Me You'll Understand' finally arrives with a fresh mastering, but still thudding along with those scuffed Reebok drums and soaked into fuzzy, stomach-squeezing low-pass filter. All soft chords, soothing vocals, deep-sea bass and skittering hats. 

Middle-man 'Gettin' It Done' is a solid label favourite. Less the full vocal flourishes and more the tinkered & chopped MPC underpinned by more dusty drum work that just grows in impact as the track goes on. One for late running and early morning truckin'. 

Last but not least comes the R'n'B-inflicted house jam 'Bootman'. Although it takes a good couple of minutes to get going, this is pure 2016 date playlist vibes. Slip the iPhone into the restaurant system and watch the silk melt down from the walls, the tables coat in velvet and ever-lasting passion effervesce from the heaving masses. Proper nawteeee.

“Techno is a genre known for its dark and powerful sound, but even in a sphere dedicated to no-holds-barred production, Dax J’s tracks stand out as particularly robust and intense.

Take ‘The Wonk’, from his most recent EP ‘The Invisible Man’, which lays down a tough low-end that ploughs forward with relentless energy. A frantic outer texture sounds like an accordion made out of titanium alloy, quivering in-and-out to disorientating effect. It’s a face-melting cut that that bends the mind of any dancefloor that hears it. Last month he took dancers in Berghain through to Monday afternoon with a 10-hour closing set which was undoubtedly transcendental.

The producer is based in Europe’s techno capital Berlin nowadays, but travelling back to his teen years spent listening to d’n’b and jungle while growing up in London provides insight into his vigorous approach to production.

Dax took up DJing aged 15 as a hobby that soon turned into an obsession. He would gather with friends on school playgrounds to listen to Kool FM radio recordings on their walkmens, until he could no longer confine his passion to break times and would skip lessons to shop for vinyl at Black Market Records in Soho.

Looking for an outlet to publicly air the wax he was buying by the shedload, he came into contact with one of the founders of the Time FM pirate radio station and pestered him with phone calls for a month until he was offered a show. It was hardly a prime slot – the 6-8am Saturday graveyard shift – but he accepted with enthusiasm and set his alarm early every weekend for months to broadcast his sets.

His next pirate stint was on Origin FM, which he held down for four years and in that time began to release music under the name Dangerous, with records arriving through outlets such as Mickey Finns’ Urban Takeover label and his own Xplicit Sound. But while studying Music Technology at university he began to fall out of love with the d’n’b scene, finding the move towards jump-up sounds to be at odds with the rawness and darkness of the music he fell in love with.

Musically disillusioned after graduating, he decided to spend the summer in Ibiza and it was there that he was introduced to techno. Dax was blown away by the spectacle of the clubs and the new music he was hearing, describing his response to Stray Landings as “this music is like drum 'n' bass but slower, I love it!” He returned to producing invigorated with a new direction to follow, yet he didn’t completely forego his roots and regularly works old breaks and the classic amen sound into his techno exploits, making for some of the most high-octane records going.

Dax J’s contribution to the genre since has been massive, co-founding the EarToGround label and going solo with his Monnom Black imprint, curating and contributing to a stacked release schedule that never falters in quality. His work ethic is so strong that he even sets up a micro studio on planes on the way to gigs.

2015 saw the release of debut full-length ‘Shade Of Black’ which was awarded Album of the Month in Mixmag and showcased an artist with an assured vision and uncompromising attitude. It’s a mindset that he carries over to his DJ sets that are characterised by rigid rhythms and forays into pulsating acid. Check out his slamming In Session mix below for a prime example.”

As soon as the lights on the dance-floor went out there was a stir through the club. Word was out that old Acid Cow had a strange dream the previous night and wished to speak about it it to all the other animals. This old fellow was so highly regarded that everyone was ready to lose an hour’s sleep in order to know what happened. The animals began to arrive and make themselves comfortable one by one.
First arrived the mountain cow Debal Sommer, followed by the Falling Cows, who settled down in the straw right in front of living legend Attila Manju. In the meantime Timboletti perched himself on the window-sill but then fluttered up to the rafters, Frech & Koch lay down behind golden gated Didier Dlb and Breger with his robs and began to chew the cud. The cows from Langegarden came in together, walking very slowly and setting down their vast hairy hoofs with great care. After them entered Peter Groskreutz, the nordic cowboy and Folic State, who waited quite a while for this unique gathering. Sam Barker and Andreas Baumecker’s lives have always revolved around different kinds of music. That’s partly why their productions as Barker & Baumecker are more unpredictable, harder to pin down than what you might expect from a label borne out of a techno club. And while their music is clearly built for dancing, listening to it reveals a deep love and respect for many forms of electronic music – bonding over more experimental dance forms is what brought them together in the first place. Imagining their music at any decent club, but disrupting the flow on the floor is what brings us to their second album Turns. An amalgamation of their unique musical minds, transcending electronic music genres and styles, while further developing and refining the Barker & Baumecker sound aesthetic.

For this pre-listening playlist, to give a better impression of the lengthy album tracks, we skipped through different parts of the songs (beginning, middle and end) and edited the samples into these single sound clips, condensing the up to 13:50 min long tracks (Statik) into 2:00 to 3:00 min edits.
