Meet Chloe Martini, super young female music producer based out of Warsaw. Chloe's sound definitely caught our attention about a year ago, with a style that displayed her classical background with a touch of electronic music. We immediately reached out and asked her to work with us on some capacity. At the time she humbly declined, stating that she simply wasn't ready to put together anything official. Since then, she has crafted her production skills, released smashing remixes and collaborated on tracks with other great producers/artists.

One year on and our brother Arturo returns to Robsoul with a brand collection of jams on his ‘Storytelling’ EP.

Loved by the Robsoul community for his Beats From The Streets series, the San Jose resident first appeared on the label back in 2012 with a trio of tracks that made up Vol.1. Two more collections followed and firmly established Arturo as one of the labels most exciting talents.

A label boss himself, Arturo is seen as having helped define what is known as the Silicon Valley Sound. His own blend of beat-laden house infused with elements of Soul, Funk and Disco has seen him become a favourite with the likes of Sneak, Farina and Weeks.

Arturo rolls out fabels of funk and frolics on the Storytelling EP, lead by the low-slung swing and diva sounds of ‘Another Day’. The pummeling kick drum of ‘Deep Inside Of You’ jumps up and slaps us round the face, followed by the bumping title track with its deep chime and floating flute melody. The final tale in this story is the guitar-licked, bass-slapped wonder of ‘Delight’.

One would be mistaken when telling the history of house music without mentioning Undaground Therapy Muzik. Launched in 1996 by Roy Davis Jr. & Odell Braziel, Undaground Therapy Muzik played a pivotal role in exposing the world to House & Disco music through the work of legendary producers like Paul Johnson, Eddie Fowlkes, and the label bosses themselves. Their work would go on to shape artists such as Seth Troxler and Daft Punk, laying the groundwork for this kind of music to be taken into the mainstream.

Although it has been almost 20 years since UTM has released a record, Roy Davis Jr. has partnered with the likes of AD Music Group in London to relaunch the label this year. The ethos of the label is much the same as it always has been - supporting new and emerging talent within House, Disco & Techno and an unapologetic focus on the quality of sound production.

With such a philosophy guiding their principals, it's no surprise that West London native Al Zanders would be the first to come out with a record on the new UTM. Responsible for some of the most hotly tipped underground records of 2017, including releases on Phonica Records and WOLF Music, Mr. Zanders shows off his versatility in his latest EP - featuring 4 tracks ranging across all spectrums of House. For the song titled Television, the young producer puts together a filtered-house gem that unabashedly uses looped melodies to create a feeling that is as spellbinding as it is euphoric. As the track plays, you will notice that it offers up a chance for a closed-eyes boogie in the middle of a set or even on your sofa at home. If you couldn't tell, we're definitely doing the latter as we speak!

Demuir teams up Original and New School Jackin / Chicago House masters from as far as California to the Netherlands including Arturo Garces, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, and Tommy Largo. 

The EP embodies Demuir's sample heavy beats as featured with the signature drum swing from Tommy Largo in, "On Dat High" and the catchy vocal chops by Arturo Garces on, "All Nit". 

Not to be outdone by the new school team, a beat stomping sub bassline and signature Tech House flavours appear in the floor filling DJ Sneak Collab, "Good Ol Days". Mark Farina tops of the package is a Mushroom Jazz'esque mood and character highlighted by female vocals to invoke a dance with a range of DJ Tools to fit a mix and create the right mood.

2019 marks a landmark 25 years at the coalface of rave for Paper Recordings, one of the world’s most treasured independent record labels.

In that time, it has released over 2000 tracks ranging from deep house and disco to Balearic and leftfield pop on four imprints, produced by over 600 artists, producers and remixers. Their sounds have been spun and streamed into over 80 countries around the world, making them one of the most respected names in contemporary dance music. The label is celebrating by releasing ‘Best of’ compilations curated by two of its most influential artists; Crazy P and Flash Atkins.

Flash Atkins is the irreverent alter-ego of label boss Ben Davis. He has been responsible for the labels’ A & R since 2008 as well as producing some of it’s finest musical moments. His selection goes from big dancefloor hitters like 2 Billion Beats’ Noise In Your Eye down to the deep wonky soul of Jamie L. Norway represents with De Fantastiske To, Ralph Myerz, Rave-enka, Diskobeistet, De Fantastiske To, Proviant Audio and Third Attempt plus there is an un-earthed remix of Those Norwegians’ Molde Revisited which has never before seen the light of day. There are label favourites Daco, Richard Seaborne and Leon Sweet and overlooked gems from Mr Tea and Space Coast. The Emperor Machine’s remix of Flash’s own Summer of Love features (which went on to be a DJ Cosmo Loft favourite) plus the trancy disco of Italy’s Soundersons and garage flavours of Maxx Mortimer.

It’s a selection that show’s Paper Recordings’ quality control hasn’t dropped in 25 years. Quite a feat.

Arturo Garces is a DJ and producer hailing from San Jose, California, where he has been immersed in the vibrant dance music scene since childhood. Growing up as the son of a collector of funk, soul, and disco records, Arturo was exposed to the roots of house music from an early age, evident in his works as a DJ and producer today. With a solid collection of tracks under his belt, Arturo has helped define the unique and emerging Silicon Valley sound, seamlessly blending the driving beats and energy of techno with the soulful, deep melodies of house.

In addition to releasing tracks on both established and underground labels like Robsoul, Cross Section, Henry Street Music, and Oomph, Arturo is also the label manager for three prominent labels: Jump Recordings (a house imprint based in San Jose), Beat Bum Music (focused on deep jackin beats), and Resource Records (a techno label). Arturo's passion for dance music extends beyond his own music; he initiated Rhythm Ritual, a community-driven event, and actively collaborates on various community initiatives with his team.

With a strong foundation in dance music and a dedication to his craft, Arturo is an artist to watch. His unique approach to blending different genres and his commitment to supporting and promoting the music of others make him a vital member of the dance music community.
