Today we are Celebrating Yemanjá - Goddess of the sea with this wonderful rework of Camarão´s "Sereia do Mar" by Jorge Madera.

Every year, on February 2nd, millions of Brazilians pay their respect to Yemanja, Goddess of the sea. She is the source of all the waters, including the rivers of western Africa, especially the River Ogun. 

Her name is a contraction of Yey Omo Eja, which means "Mother Whose Children are the Fish." As all life is thought to have begun in the sea, all life is held to have begun with Yemaya. She is motherly and strongly protective, and cares deeply for all Her children, comforting them and cleansing them of sorrow. She is said to be able to cure infertility in women, and cowrie shells represent Her wealth. She does not easily lose Her temper, but when angered She can be quite destructive and violent, as the sea in a storm.

As milions of Brazilians walk to the sea to pay they tribute to offer the mother of the sea food and drinks, we have decided to join in with an offering in the form of an excellent musical gift prepared with a lots of care by Holland based DJ and Music Producer Jorge Madera.

Recorded around christmas 2018 as a nod, ode and shoutout to one of my long time selector heroes Mixmaster Morris. I first became familiar with him in high school ca 2004-05, hearing his early 90's classics as Dreamfish and The Irresistible Force. But it wasn't until around 2012, when my own DJ-adventure was already living it's own life, where I started to notice his true brilliance: behind the decks. As a hobby music historian/anthropologist I loved digging into his older and newer mixes (easily found online), exploring his vast library of music and learning that it can be completely OK to hear a Minnie Riperton ballad next to Plaid next to an old, dusty house track next to an Adrian Sherwood dub beast. Don't think in terms of genres, think in flow, think in the tidal waves that make up the human spirit. Spontaneity. Joy, sadness, depth, memories, experimentality, playfulness, and back to joy again. Always come back to joy. Perhaps this isn't the words Morris would use himself, but this is my understanding of his wordless teaching. It has been a revelation to me, and something I've been trying to adapt to my own art ever since. And for that I'm forever grateful.

In the summer of 2018 I joined my friend and DJ colleague Anders Navigare to Ozora Festival. Quite accidentally the two of us received a drop of pure and very potent acid in the moment Mixmaster Morris started playing at the Dome stage. Let me tell you it was quite possibly the most powerful musical experience in my life. I thought I knew the music world of Mixmaster Morris, but I guess you can't really say that until you've been tripping under his command. Outside the Dome an enormously violent thunderstorm was causing havoc over the festival, but inside we had the most loving and blissful music experience, grooving to D'Angelo, DJ Koze, Kamaal Williams, Flying Lotus, The Orb/Sun Electric and gosh, did my heart melt to the sounds of "hey teachers, leave those kids alone!!!"? I kid you not, I bursted into tears twice over these 4 hours! Forever imprinted into my DNA.

I bow my head and wish to express my deepest gratitude and respect for you Mixmaster Morris, if you ever read this. Thanks for all the inspiration throughout the years.

Scotland-Based producer and DJ, Khromi, made his first appearance on Dank 'N' Dirty Dubz when he collaborated with Liquid Memoirs on the incredibly well-received track, "Particles". Arguably one of the smoothest artists on the label, he's been hard at work for over a year meticulously crafting this incredible album titled "Traveller In A Strange World". The release showcases Khromi's ability to take deep, jazzy, melodic, and improvisational dubstep to the next level. With 11 original tracks backed by two remixes by fellow label-mates, Liquid Memoirs & Demure, this album's one that's sure to set the mood right.

Art-X, quatre lettres pour un homme et un instrument. Et pas n'importe lequel puisqu'il s'agit du mélodica. Jamais sans son jouet fétiche, Art-X revisite, remixe et compose des morceaux à l'instar de celui qu'on pourrait présenter comme son père spirituel : Augustus Pablo. A la différence près qu'Art-X ne se limite pas aux fondations du reggae jamaïcain. Indéniablement influencé par la scène Bass Music, le mélodiciste originaire de Tours navigue entre les remixes oldschool et les compositions innovantes... le tout pour un Dub énergique et méditatif.

10 ans après avoir fondé, avec son frère Olo, le groupe Ondudground  et le weblabel ODGProd, Art-X lance en 2014 son projet solo. Sa constante créativité l'amènera à sortir plusieurs EP et albums remarqués, comme « Toy Story », « Spiritual Father » ou dernièrement « Blue Lotus ». Musicien depuis l'enfance, Art-X écume les scènes françaises, européennes mais aussi mondiales. Le Mexique a par exemple pu apprécier son talent naturel pour les mélodies. Parfois accompagné d'un groupe, souvent épaulé d'un dub opérateur, sur scène Art-X propose un live à la fois planant et stimulant. En somme, une prestation singulière et difficilement imitable.

Art-X is a composer, keyboardist, and also melodica player since the age of 16. 


He founded with his brother the band Ondubground in 2004. After the release of 15 albums and EPs, and many collaborations with for example Biga Ranx and Brother Culture, Art-X decided in 2014 to create his solo project, with the release of his first album dedicated to his favorite instrument.

Titled “Toy Story”, the album is composed of 11 tracks through 9 collaborations : Ondubground, Roots Raid, Dawa Hifi, Panda Dub, Manu Digital, Hatman, Frequency Lab, Miniman and Brain Damage.

In August 2014, Art-X came back with his second album “Cook & Curry”. This release is inspired by reggae-roots classics. Thus, it takes us on a journey through the history of reggae music, supplemented by the specific touch of Art-X and his Melodica.

In 2015 he joined the beatmaker Atili Bandalero and release "Melodica Circuit" then Art-X make himself an album tribute to Augustus Pablo called "Spiritual Father".

All the albums are available in free download on the net-label www.odgprod.com.

On stage, Art-X offers a live duo mix melodica from dub roots to dub stepper.
