La Dame Blanche es el proyecto de Yaite Ramos, cantante cubana, instalada en la urbana ciudad de Paris, hija de Jesus "Aguaje" Ramos (maestro director de la orquesta Buena Vista Social Club), corista de "Sargento García" y vocal principal en Live de "El Hijo de la Cumbia". La cantante se encuentra terminando su primer material discográfico, con un alto contenido social, sin dejar de lado relatos culturales urbanos, pasando para eso por varios géneros, desde el Hip Hop-Reggae hasta sonidos urbanos mas latinoamericanos como la cumbia.
Producida musicalmente por Babylotion (Marc Damblé) Beat Maker francés con gran experiencia en estudio y en vivo con "Sargento García", "Amadou & Mariam", "Orishas", entre otros. Todo bajo la dirección artística de Emiliano Gomez a.k.a. "El Hijo de la Cumbia", productor argentino conocido por generar la fusión entre la cumbia y los ritmos urbanos del mundo.

The Leisure Society have been holed up the studio (Konk) for the last few months working on the follow up to their 3rd album Alone Aboard The Ark.  They decided to fast-track this song in time for the World Cup after songwriter Nick Hemming was inspired by the Colombian football team of 1994 and wanted to write a kind of alternative anthem for their national team.  

Nick explains:

"In 1994 Colombian football was really booming, there were so many iconic players: Rene Higuerta, Carlos Valderrama and Andrés Escobar. In the final warm up game before the World Cup they unbelievably beat Argentina 7-0 in Buenos Aries, and went into the competition as one of the favourites. The team, led by their Talismanic captain Andrés Escobar, were restoring pride to a country which had become known for it's drug cartels and violence. Andrés became the first Colombian to sign a deal with a European club (Milan), although he never actually made it to Italy."

"The whole campaign turned into a bit of a disaster. There were death threats from Colombian drug lords who wanted their players to be picked - Cartels were bankrolling many of the Colombian domestic teams as a way to launder money - and the team failed to perform under the pressure. Their dependable captain Andrés scored an own goal against the USA and the team failed to make it past the group stages. So a team that had united a nation returned home in pieces. A couple of days later Andrès went out for a drink at a local nightclub. In the carpark, as he was leaving, a gang of men shouted abuse at him. He went over to reason with the men and they shot him twelve times, killing him."

"This song is about the togetherness and pride - as well as the pressure - that I imagine that exciting group of footballers must have felt, before it all went horribly wrong.  We'll certainly be cheering 'Roy's Boys' over the coming days, but if England falter we're backing Colombia all the way!"

Leisure Society // Football facts:

- Violinist Mike Siddell was actually born in Colombia and his Dad taught the ex Colombian goalkeeper, Farit Mondragon, in primary school, even coaching him in the football team!

- Most of the band are big football supporters except for Christian and Helen.  (Nick = Derby County, Bas = Man Utd, Mike = Liverpool, Jon = West Ham).
