Arwen Lewis interviews Peter Lewis of Moby Grape.

That comes through crystal clear on Imagination, a new collection of singular songcraft that could only spring from the creative consciousness of Peter Lewis. founding member of the legendary San Francisco rock group Moby Grape. Consider the driving, chiming “Path of Least Resistance,” as radio ready as a rocker can be despite its fierce philosophizing, and “If I Just Had You,” which spins incandescent longing into perfect doo/wop. Delicate guitars and lilting, uplifting harmonies are the warm embrace of “When You Come Back to Me” while pensive piano carries the earnestly heartening “Without You.” Impossible to peg, Lewis also lets loose with a country waltz (“The Garden Song”), a flamenco-influenced tragedy (“La Mujer”) and a jazzy, trippy nightmare (“Frank Zappa’s Ghost”). 

With his voice is in fine fettle, Lewis serves each song—bright and delicate here, gravelly and aching there, even roaring when required—through lyrical themes that ponder mortality versus eternity, illusion versus reality. The 10-track long player is his second release on OMAD Records, a follow-up to 2019’s The Road to Zion, and it marks a deeper collaboration with John DeNicola, main man of the bespoke label. “The songs on Imagination, like those on The Road to Zion, attempt to reveal a certain perspective about life,” Lewis says. “But on The Road to Zion, this perspective was highly personal, whereas working with John on Imagination, we sought a perspective we might share with everyone.”  

They’ll also feel the musicianship. Imagination is a guitar-forward record, with both Lewis and DeNicola reaching out to such friends as Jonathan McEuen, Rob Bailey and George Adrian, whose top-tier talent rounded out their own playing. “The guitarists on this record were not chosen for the number of notes they can cram into one measure, but for being at the right time and place with the notes they played,” Lewis points out. 

Also at that echelon are drummers Brian Delaney, Tommy Allen and Don McCauley, plus Alan Zahn on piano, Jeff Elliot on trumpet, Marc Muller on pedal steel and Randy Tico on bass. And though the record was largely achieved by trading tracks back and forth from the west coast to the east, the genuine emotion and immediacy of the sound belies technological quilting. “The process allows for on-second-thought chances to make the music better,” Lewis says. “The trick is in not overworking it, in keeping all the players in a creative mood until you’ve made your point and knowing when it’s time to move on.” 
Now it’s time for listeners to enter Peter Lewis’s Imagination. What insights you glean from the words, what spirit you hear in the sound, what it makes you think and feel—about dreams, doubt and deception, life, love and the everlasting—will be yours alone. All Lewis will suggest, in terms of a shared experience, is a favorite line from Lost Horizon: “‘There are moments in every man’s life when he glimpses the eternal.’ I have been searching for this glimpse all my life and my sincere wish is that anyone out there searching for it too might find hope for their journey in this record.”

In 1966 amid a flurry of feedback, tremolo and fuzz the Electric Prunes emerged from the confines of their Los Angeles garage onto the world stage.  Their hit single, “I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)”, widely recognized as one of the first psychedelic hit records, heralded a transition in music and its presentation.  Mojo Magazine writes, “Quite simply one of the defining moments of psychedelic pop.”
The follow-up single, “Get Me To The World On Time”, named one of the top 100 psychedelic records by Mojo Magazine, is recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as the #20 psychedlelic record of all time.   The band’s second album “Underground” is viewed as a “classic psychedelic masterpiece” and a cut from their “Mass in F Minor” concept album was selected for the soundtrack of the classic film “Easy Rider”.

Jesus Mind Glaze is the vision of singer-songwriter-producer Cameron 
Lowe. His psychedelic infused rock n roll songs are ecstatic expressions of childlike wonderment, bucking societal pressures, and the magical

SN1 | EP21 - James Lowe (Electric Prunes) and Cameron Lowe (Jesus Mind Glaze)

Singer\Songwriter\Guitarist Robert LaRoche, began performing
professionally at age 15.
Originally from Holyoke, Massachusetts, LaRoche formed Power
Pop sensations The Sighs in 1982.

After 10 years of touring the college\club circuit of New England, the
Sighs were signed to Virgin Records and released their debut cd
“What Goes On” in 1992.

The disc received fantastic reviews and the single “Think About
Soul” was a staple on “Modern Rock” radio charts throughout the
Summer of 1992.
The band toured America extensively with such acts as The Spin
Doctors and The Gin Blossoms.
Their second release “Different” was released in 1995 on NYC indie
label Big Deal Records.
The band disbanded in 1996 and LaRoche moved on to his next
career as lead guitarist and co-writer for Austin, Texas singer
Patricia Vonne.
The Sighs regrouped in the Summer Of 2016 to record for the first
time in two decades. The subsequent release Wait On Another Day
came out on NYC indie label Omad Records In November 2017.
The disc received glowing reviews internationally.
In July 2019, Austin singer-songwriter LaRoche released “A
Thousand Shades”. This six song EP is bursting with irresistible
hooks and LaRoche’s signature harmonies and mesmerizing
vocals. Backed by many of Austin’s top Musicians, “A Thousand
Shades” takes the listener on a journey of love and heartbreak, with
a silver lining of redemption.

SN2 | EP2 - Robert LaRoche on The Arwen Lewis Show

JK Jones picked up her brother's guitar before the age of 10, and studied classical flute in grade school. She won gold and silver medals for performance at the Los Angeles Unified School District Solo and Ensemble festival. She also performed as part of the Folksters group where she debuted her first Joni Mitchell covers.
   In college she began songwriting in earnest, joined a band, and played at various venues in the Bay Area, including on the radio, at coffee houses, private parties and weddings. 
      After a performance hiatus to raise a family and caretake her parents, JK returned to performing.  She sang at pops concerts, joined the Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic and Legal Voices Choir, with whom she sang at the Disney Concert Hall, Royce Hall and the Wallace Annenberg Theatre in Los Angeles. 
     In 2015 JK suffered a neck injury that changed everything. She fought to recover her voice.  After more than a year of intensive physical therapy and vocal retraining, she found new confidence and started rolling out her originals and Joni Mitchell covers at various open mics, on YouTube (@JKJonesmusic1), at the former Coffee Gallery BackStage, Lost Chord Guitars, Tarzana Community and Cultural Center, the Canyon Club, and she headlined a Joni Mitchell Tribute concert at the Stardust concert series in May 2023. She was recently invited to perform at a Joni Mitchell Tribute in British Columbia, Canada.
     JK was awarded a scholarship to attend the 2023 New England Singer Songwriters Retreat for her original “Sisters of Mercy” which will be on her first album expected to be released in Spring 2024.

SN2 | EP6 - JK Jones on The Arwen Lewis Show

Producer/engineer/mixer, Ed Stasium would rather say “it’s all about the music” when pressed for highlights of his career. Helping an artist clearly bring their vision to fruition while taking care to make sure the sound shines, Ed finds himself taking a role as “just another member of the band” while leading a project to completion. 
Ed keeps has a fresh eye for musical substance where he can lend a veteran’s wealth of studio experience. His valuable instinct for mediation has been useful in many situations where he’s had to be a “Henry Kissinger of Rock & Roll” as he’ll describe with a smile.
Ed Stasium hails from the beautiful Garden State (New Jersey), where he became interested in tape recorders and guitars when he was a young lad. He recorded, and was a guitar playing member of countless garage bands during his formative years. While attending the School Of Visual Arts in Manhattan, Ed joined a local New Jersey group named Brandywine. Setting up a makeshift studio in their manager’s basement he recorded demos, and in 1971 the band went on to sign with and record an album for Brunswick Records (engineered by Bruce Swedien!). It was during the making of that record that Ed found himself drawn to the production and engineering side of the recording process. 
In 1972 he left the band and through his childhood friend Michael Bonagura was introduced to producer Tony Camillo and producer/engineer Tony Bongiovi, owners of Venture Sound Studios in Somerville, NJ. There he became involved with the building and wiring of the room and became a staff engineer where he received his first ‘hands on’ experience in professional recording. Ed recorded and mixed his first gold single, Gladys Knight & the Pips’ “Midnight Train to Georgia” and had a top ten hit with Bazuka’s at Venture Sound. 
After three years at Venture, Ed next took a staff position at Le Studio Morin Heights in Quebec, where he produced his first gold album for French-Canadian group “Garolou”. While visiting New York in 1976 he again happened upon Tony Bongiovi and his new partner, former Mediasound manager Bob Walters who asked him to join forces with them to start up a new studio. This studio was to become the legendary “Power Station,” where he played an intricate part in the design of the room and choice of equipment.
In 1978, feeling the constraints of being on staff, Stasium left Power Station to pursue an independent career. Ed has since recorded and produced such diverse artists as Ramones, Talking Heads, Julian Cope, Peter Wolf, Nona Hendryx, Mick Jagger, Jeff Healey, Joan Jett, Marshall Crenshaw, Living Colour, Soul Asylum, The Smithereens, Motorhead, Baby Animals, Biohazard, The Reverend Horton Heat, Shirley Caesar, Simon Phillips, Misfits, Blackfire, Joey Ramone, The Chesterfield Kings, Sihasin, Hoodoo Gurus, The Empty Hearts and The Long Ryders.
In 1988, prompted when his hearing-impaired daughter asked him what music videos being played on MTV were about, Ed established an awareness campaign for the closed-captioning of music videos. To this day all music videos are closed-captioned. 
Today, Ed lives in San Diego, California. He enjoys listening to his 78, 45, and LP record collection while enthusing about the creative musical possibilities of working in the ever-changing analog/digital recording environment. And if one of his recent projects happens to add another record to his wall, he’ll likely say “it was all about the music.”

SN2 | EP 8 Ed Stasium

After years of playing a circuit of R&B clubs and events and speakeasies in the Pacific Northwest, Don Stevenson trekked down to the Bay Area in the summer of ’65. He’d recently joined The Frantics. The following summer he co-founded the iconic San Francisco band, Moby Grape. Playing ballrooms, like The Fillmore and Avalon, the Grape instantly became the darlings of the Bay Area, and the object of a massive bidding war. In the early weeks of ’67 the fivesome shuffled between San Francisco and Los Angeles with record company executives from Columbia, Atlantic, and Elektra elbowing each other out of the way, with contracts and pens in hand. Signing with Columbia, Moby Grape recorded their debut in a handful of sessions in the spring of ’67. The album came out a few days after Pepper and a couple of weeks later, the Grape played a killer set at the Monterey Pop Festival.  
As a songwriting-singing drummer, Don Stevenson was a trailblazer, opening the door for the likes of Levon Helm and Don Henley. Moby Grape’s self-titled LP isn’t just one of the best debuts in history, it’s one of the best albums ever cut. It’s now over half a century after those heady days and today Stevenson is putting out his third solo album, Limited Engagement—Volume 1. Produced by Jamie Collins- SoundSuiteMusic, and featuring such talent as Tim Bovaconti (Burton Cummings Band), Dane Clark (John Mellencamp Band), and Dale Ockerman (Doobie Brothers), the album includes 11 stellar tracks tapping into all the genres Moby Grape explored so many years ago.  
With another dozen tracks in the can, Stevenson’s next album is right around the corner and he’s looking into the past, present, and future all at once. At 82, Don Stevenson has every bit as much energy as those two generations younger and you’ll witness this when his band hits the stage at Massey Hall. Having shared the bill with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Steve Miller, The Byrds, BB King, Buddy Guy, Sly Stone, and a host of others, Don Stevenson is no stranger to event concerts, like Chest Fever. Prepare to be bowled over by a seasoned icon.

In India stars are not made, they are born. Music is not a business, it’s a way of life. The respect for music as one of the highest art forms reflects in the training that musicians put into their musical
studies. Reewa may have been born into an illustrious Bollywood family but her star is rising under her own light.
A multi-talented artist who has mastered Western, Carnatic and Hindustani vocals, alongside classical piano, Reewa is an award winning songwriter and collaborator. At such a young age she has already won the Pepsi Music Award for Best Independent Song of the Year - One Above.
Several of her compositions have been chosen by DJ Ravin to feature on the world-renowned lounge music label ‘Buddha Bar’ in Paris. One of her tracks ‘Love and Desire’ got selected in the 16 Greatest Hits of Buddha Bar. Reewa’s compositions and vocal talents also feature in the Spanish Film ‘Rastres de Sandal’ which won
both the Gaudi Award for Best Catalan Film and the audience award at the Montreal Film Festival. She has done 8 Grades of Piano with distinction from The Royal Schools Of Music in London.
Reewa’s first public performance saw her opening for pop sensation Bryan Adams in Pune, where she sang her own composition “Crossing Limits”. Another feather in her cap is Reewa’s collaboration with Zakir Hussain who produced her single
« Saanwal » (2019) Featuring Chris Potter on saxophone, « Saanwal » blends the cultures of Sindh and Spain. « It was a divine fusion. We were looking for something that was missing in the song and we tried everything. Finally I received the inspiration to add some Spanish chords and it worked beautifully ».
And speaking of divine, Reewa’s talent is a force to be reckoned with. In 2020 she released her debut album Saaya Tere Ishq Ka which was composed by Reewa with lyrics by India’s most legendary writer - Gulzar. Her debut single "Maula (One Above)" received the Pepsi Mirchi Music Award for the Best Independent Song Of The Year.
Reewa has also featured in a music video alongside Kenny G representing India where she sang in Chinese. The song is called JASMINE FLOWER which is a traditional chinese folk song. This was a huge and a very prestigious project ONE WORLD IN BEAUTY presented by YUE SAI KAN -the international fashion icon.
The hour-long event featured some of the biggest names in music, beauty, fashion and entertainment, honoring Estée Lauder, Wendy Yu, Phillip Lim & Lucy Liu. The music video featured artists from all across the globe like Kenny G from USA, Lang Lang who is a world renowned pianist from China , Eldbjorg Hemsing who is one of the finest and the leading violinists of Norway, the cello playing prodigy Anna hu from France and Rosey chan -a virtuoso musician from London were all a part of it. Reewa was the only vocalist in the video.
Most recently, Reewa has recorded ‘Heart Of Love’ for the Hollywood movie -A 2nd Chance which released in theatres in Newark, New Jersey and New York.
Reewa’s music is the dream combination of traditional jazz and ultra modern 21st Century pop, wrapped in a gorgeous vocal instrument, and seasoned with a huge pinch of soul.

Andras (pronounced On-Dross) is a songwriter with roots in Olympia, Boston and Los Angeles. His band Mr. Jones & The Previous (alternately Mr. Jones & The Fascists, Mr. Jones & The Hard Feelings and simply, The Previous) released 5 albums and toured extensively through the 1990’s. Before The Previous, Jones was in The Boon with Josh Clayton-Felt (later of School Of Fish). After The Previous, Jones toured and released music solo, sharing stages and sessions with the likes of Dan Bern, Spearhead, Jackson Browne, John Wesley Harding, Michelle Shocked, Patti Smith, Andy Dick, Sarah Silverman, Shmushkin and Chris Sand aka Sandman: The Rappin’ Cowboy.  Jones’s new album is entitled Recognize, De-escalate & De-code. The first single “Get Outta My Head” is currently hitting indie radio charts around the world. He is the host of The World Is Wrong Podcast, and the author of Accidental Initiations: In The Kabbalistic Tree of Olympia (from Sync Book Press).  Andras performs the song “Crazy Captain Gunboat Willie” on the upcoming Lowell George tribute Long Distance Love from Flat Iron Records alongside artists like Elvis Costello, Ben Harper & Inara George, due to be released in March 2024.
Walk the Whale is the brainchild of Logan and Parker, two long-time friends from music school who reconnected over a kindling desire to make good on their passions and get their music out in the world. Trained as cellists but comfortable on various instruments, what follows is a unique twist on the genres of alt-rock, folk, or any other style the pair find themselves in.

Natural collaborators, the duo excels at songwriting, creating over 40 songs since starting the band in 2022. The burst of creativity established a workflow that allows Logan and Parker to move from song idea to demo in a few days. In this, the multi-instrumentalism of Walk the Whale shines, as every part is written and recorded by them. Outside of their collaboration, Walk the Whale has established itself as a ready-made band for other artists along the central coast. Their musical training gives them an edge in providing fresh arrangements for songs ranging from folk to hip-hop.

The band’s vision is to create more than a great touring act but to use their training and penchant for collaborating to involve themselves with all parts of the recording industry. From session work and on-stage collaboration to professional songwriting, Walk the Whale fills a unique niche in the music world. Tom “Satch” Kerans, the 2009 runner-up in the 92.5 The River Rising Star contest is a singer, songwriter and guitarist drawing on such influences as Tom Petty, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and Barry and The Remains. The founder and front man of the Boston based band the Catalinas, he has opened shows for many national acts including Little Steven Van Zandt, NRBQ, Charlie Sexton and South Side Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. In fact, Kerans opened a show for Roy Orbison four days before the legendary singer’s untimely death.
Kerans has steadily garnered national and local press; David Mead, in the September October (2009) issue of American Songwriter, declared “Satch Kerans is doing his damndest to preserve what seems to have always worked: stories about people in conflict set to familiar melodies and arrangements... Kerans doesn’t stray too far from any previously beaten paths, but a certain authenticity in his delivery makes you like him for it all the more. You really wouldn’t want him to be any other way”. In a recent feature story that ran in the Boston Globe music critic Jonathan Perry wrote, “years after settling into an entirely different identity and new set of priorities - reemerges with some of the best songs he's ever written... nodded in sound and temperament to his longtime heroes Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, as well as ex-Dream Syndicate frontman Steve Wynn and Mark Knopfler. At the collection's core was a clutch of sturdy melodies and classic pop structures”. SN 3 | EP 4 Satch Kerans on The Arwen Lewis Show

Second Language is an American alternative rock band formed in 1981 in Los Angeles. The band’s name derived from their view of music as a universal second language. They performed and recorded together from 1981 to 1996 and gained recognition with their debut record in 1984, the Souvenirs EP, which garnered college radio play and even commercial airplay, unusual for an unsigned band.
The band gigged regularly at venues in Los Angeles and opened for notable bands like Love And Rockets. Blancmange, Howard Devoto, Berlin and Oingo Boingo. In 1996 the band independently released their first album WrongSpeak. 
The core of the band since 1984, Jessie Jacobson (lead vocalist, songwriter, guitarist), Jarrett Lesko (bass) & Brian Bielski (drums), along with a host of other talented multi-instrumentalists and vocalists sharing multiple influences, created post-punk, new wave and indie rock music utilizing an improvisational composing style and powerful stage performances. The band went on hiatus in 1996.
In 2001, Jessie, a trans woman, underwent a personal transition in order to manifest her authentic self. She briefly left music behind, went back to school and earned an MA in Psychology and worked as a therapist, but soon found herself drawn back to singing, songwriting, improvising and recording from a whole new more feminine/feminist perspective, literally with a new voice, and back to working with her former bandmates, in particular Brian and Jarrett.
Second Language reformed in 2014 on a part-time basis to improvise together culminating in producing new studio recordings 2022-2024, that are ongoing. 
During 2023-2024, Second Language will release seven albums of back catalog and unreleased material as well as a new album, recorded with a legendary group of producers: Tony Berg, Ron Fair, Michael James, Earle Mankey, Frank Wolf, and Ken Jordan, along with the band itself. The result is the first in a series of Second Language archival and contemporary stereo & Atmos single releases on Alternator Records, mixed by Michael James in 2023-2024. Alternator Records is a modern label founded by legendary producer/mixer Michael James. The label specializes in immersive audio, with every frontline release being conceived from the ground up—and mixed in—Dolby Atmos.

Kathleen Sieck's latest album, “Goodnight America" (2020), is a statement piece from this popular singer-songwriter. Kathleen’s confident writing paired with velvety smooth vocals and lyrical melodies are reminiscent of iconic artists such as Carole King, Linda Rondstadt, Susan Tedeschi, and Alison Krauss. After Kathleen decided to turn to songwriting and music, she made a name for herself in the SoCal area as a worship leader. Over the past few years, Kathleen has released two gospel albums and an Americana album (Where the Sleepers Lie, 2014). 

In 2015, Kathleen formed a locally beloved Americana band, The Paradise Road, which performs throughout Southern California. In addition to being the band leader and songwriter, she also writes for film and TV, with songs sync licensed in “The Days of our Lives” and “General Hospital”. 

	Currently, Kathleen is in the studio, recording a new album with The Paradise Road, which will be a collection of California-centric original music, titled Antares This album will be released in summer 2024. Dezelle is a singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, California who writes music in a variety of genres, including pop, electronic, R&B, americana, and indie folk. She writes and composes for her own projects as well as for other musicians, film, and TV. She has played The Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, The Bitter End in New York, the Troubadour and Ain't Nothin' But Blues Bar in London, House of Blues, SXSW in Austin, Folk Music Festival in Arizona,  the Uncancelled Music Festival and other venues and festivals. 

At the center of Dezelle's music is honest story-telling, and she has received critical acclaim for her lyrics, which were also recognized through her inclusion in the "Lyrics as Poetry" project, a journal featuring lyrics of singer-songwriters that can be found in bookstores and museums across the world. Dezelle's lyrics are featured in the book alongside singer-songwriters such as Gregory Alan Isakov, Alexi Murdoch, and Rachel Yamagata. Dezelle's music has been placed in numerous films, TV shows, and trailers. She has written for Netflix hit TV shows,
the Hallmark Channel, Bravo, Mar Vista Entertainment, Parkside Pictures, Dailey advertising agency (Nestle and Fender), Lifetime, UpTV, as well other brands and studios.

SN 3 | EP 17 - Dezelle on The Arwen Lewis Show

Hi, my name is Jackson Gillies. I’m 24 years old and I live in Santa Barbara, CA but was born and raised on Long Island, NY until I was 13. I was consistently subjected to fantastic music from a very early age. My parents attended over 100 Grateful Dead shows, and cranked their music throughout the house as I was growing up- Neil Young, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, The Allman Brothers etc..

I started playing guitar when I was 14 years old. I was exclusively a musical theatre kid until I discovered the guitar. My first love was The Avett Brothers and their music awoke something within me that said “I need to be able to do that.” I began learning every single one their songs on acoustic guitar, and soon mimicking their writing style and stage presence. A few years later around the age of 17 I discovered John Mayer and his incredible craft. An effortless blend of classic blues music with pop and folk lyrics and structure. Funny enough, I only discovered him because he started playing with the Grateful Dead! 

I’ve been releasing my own original music since I was 19 and I’ve struggled with it greatly. I am a perfectionist and would always fall out of favor with my works as soon as they were released and doubt myself if people wanted to hear them. I stopped releasing music for a while- until this year. I wrote, performed, recorded, mixed and mastered my first ever album. The songs are all recorded without a click track, captured on an AKG 414 with no tuning or comping. The record is entitled “High & Low” and will be released on April 26.

SN 3 | EP 18 Jackson Gillies on The Arwen Lewis Show

Had it not been for the melodic and accomplished guitar work of Peter Albin flowing out of an upper story window at 1090 Page Street in the early summer of 1965, there might never have been a Big Brother and the Holding Company. It was on that day that Sam Andrew happened down Page Street in San Francisco and was so impressed by what he heard, that he went in and introduced himself.
Peter was born on June 6, 1944 in San Francisco. He began playing guitar at an early age and became involved in the folk scene of the early 60s. While attending The College of San Mateo, Peter and his brother Rodney played in a bluegrass band called the Liberty Hill Aristocrats.
By the time Peter met Sam in 1965, he had aspirations of forming a band that would write and perform children’s songs. One of the first songs he wrote while working with children at The Marin Jewish Community Day Camp, north of San Francisco, was “Caterpillar”. This song went on the appear on the first Big Brother and the Holding Company Album.


But the guitarist who inspired the first meeting with Sam Andrew ended up making the transition to bass and has spent the majority of his career with that instrument. Although his fine guitar work can be heard on cuts such as “Coo-Coo”, “Oh, Sweet Mary”, and “Turtle Blues” and also on Big Brother LPs “Be A Brother” and “How Hard It Is”.
Witty and personable, Peter provided much of the on-stage commentary and also served as the liaison for the group with managers and promoters. Also, in the early days of Big Brother, before Janis, Peter did most of the lead vocals for the band. Among the many songs he sang were “Blow My Mind” and “Down On Me”. Even after Janis, the first album finds Peter’s lead on “Blindman”, “Light Is Faster Than Sound”, and “Caterpillar”.
Peter’s musical pursuits have also extended beyond Big Brother and the Holding Company. He has played with Country Joe and the Fish and can be heard on their 1969 Vanguard album “Here We Are Again”. He later toured in an all-star band with Joe McDonald that cut an album outside Paris (Paris Sessions, Vanguard – 1973) in September of 1972.
In 1982, Peter was one of the founding members of the Bay Area super group, The Dinosaurs. Along with Peter, the group consisted of, John Cipollina, Barry Melton, Merl Saunders, Robert Hunter, and Spencer Dryden.
Peter has loaned many items to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland. The most notable piece is his legendary psychedelic Fender Jazz Bass from 1968 which is now a popular museum attraction.

Today, Peter is still playing occasionally with Big Brother and the Holding Company, the Barry Melton Band, and the Irish Newsboys.

Jeff Berkley shares stories about his life as a songwriter, recording artist and producer based out of Satellite Recording Studio in San Diego, CA - and their Neve Mixing Console... we talk about his creative process, being on tour with Jackson Browne, Street Tacos, and so much more...

Jeff Berkley is a native San Diegan who has made music his life.  He has been called a San Diego legend, and it’s easy to understand why.  Berkley’s musical contributions include his work in current bands Berkley Hart and Jeff Berkley & The Banned, as well as his solo performances.  His previous bands include The Cry, The Redwoods, and Citizen Band.  He is also known for his work with the many musicians he has produced in studios around the world, including his own. 
 
The legend continues as he is also an amazing guitarist and percussionist with multiple acts.  As an accomplished songwriter (he won the Kerrville New Folk Songwriter award in 1999), in any way you engage with Jeff Berkley, he puts you at ease with his good humor, and then engages you with his experience, his ear, and his passion.
 
He is known as one of the finest singer-songwriters San Diego has ever produced. He has a warm, melodic voice and a way with song hooks that are second to none.

Shennie moved to Santa Barbara in 2007 to pursue a career in music and psychology. She worked as a singer and vocal coach throughout her 20s as she was gaining her degree in clinical psychology. She now works in private practice as a therapist, and at Lucid Therapeutics as a psychedelic integration coach. Her clinical focus is on trauma, LGBTQ+ and somatic focused work.

SN 3 | EP 22 - Shennie Smith On The Arwen Lewis Show

Gary Hector is a singer songwriter from Trinidad and Tobago in The Caribbean.

The former leader and frontman for seminal Caribbean rock n roll bands ODDFELLOWS LOCAL and JOINTPOP, Hector is now on a solo career and will simply be known as, GARY HECTOR.

Trinidad and Tobago is home to the music of Calypso and Soca, and the National Instrument the Steelpan, but Hectors’ song writing is based on the classic Rock n Roll, Outlaw Country, Americana songbook, without neglecting the landscape of his homeland.

Recognized at home as a pioneer and legend, he is no newcomer to the scene, as he led, and recorded one landmark album with ODDFELLOWS LOCAL (1991-1995) which created the underground scene in Trinidad. 

His debut solo album was NATIONAL TRASH (3rd Aug 2021). With the first single called “TODAY I RIDE ALONE “(1st July 2021) Both are hauntingly beautiful slices of Americana, with shades of classic country and classic rock n roll. Which Gary jokingly refers to as “ Trinicana”

The first single and the album both made it onto early round “For Your Consideration “Grammy voting lists for 2021.

His follow up solo album MEMPHIS MEDICNE will be released in October 2024.

SN 4 | EP 1 Gary Hector on The Arwen Lewis Show

Smack Champion is an up and coming independent rock group currently based in Los Angeles. Founded by long-time collaborators Ray Williams and Weston Wilson, the band originally formed in 2019 as a backing band for Williams' solo project at the time. During 2020, they decided to combine efforts and co-write some new material, solidifying Smack Champion as a unit. They have spent 2024 rolling out their debut album track by track, offering a distinctive blend of rock, folk, and country influences. Their sound is both fresh and nostalgic, a throwback to the alternative and indie rock that they grew up with as well as a more classic 60's/70's vibe.
