Katherine Abbott is a free-spirited folk singer/songwriter from Stratford-Upon-Avon, UK. 

Her sound is influenced by the likes of Mazzy Star, Weyes Blood, Radiohead, Joni Mitchell and Electric Youth, with a unique style springing from folk influences and made her own.

She composes songs with guitar that display heartfelt lyrical content and haunting vocals, often described as ethereal. She finds joy in busking and travelling.

  Lancashire-born singer-songwriter Tobias ben Jacob releases Human Flow (13.03.20), the first single from REFUGE, a vibrant new album of electronica-tinged story-songs inspired by people at the heart of the global refugee crisis.
Conceived whilst working six days a week as a delivery driver, Tobias dreamed up the entire concept for the record in lay-bys in his Devon hometown, pulling over to jot down lyrics and record demos on his phone.
The inspiration for the album came after Tobias made contact with Zekria Farzad, an Afghan refugee and former journalist who had set up the Wave of Hope For The Future School at Moria Refugee Camp, Lesbos. Talking with Zekria and hearing some of his incredible accounts of courage and hope during a hellish struggle to find a place of safety for his family, Tobias set out to try and explore more of these inspiring human stories through his songwriting.
Human Flow is partly inspired by the Ai Weiwei film of the same name that documents the global refugee crisis. Clinging to a sparse arrangement of analogue synth swells and dissected samples of a ghostly choir, the track explores in concise, evocative language the elements that lead someone towards that perilous journey.
Tobias enlisted John Elliott of the band The Little Unsaid to produce and record the album, the two holing themselves up in a remote house in the wilds of Exmoor and recording the entire album in one week whilst storms raged continually outside.
A crowd-funder was set up to help complete the album, with additional funds being raised towards supporting the School at Moria Camp. Tobias asked what the school needed and was told they have 150 music students and only a handful of old guitars, so he pledged to provide them with additional guitars purchased locally in Greece.

That the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree is an oft-stated truism, but in Aoife Scott’s case that doesn’t make it any less valid. Born into the legendary Black Family - which includes her mother, Frances, and her aunt, Mary - she has been surrounded by and immersed in music from an early age, from listening to her grandparents, mother, aunt and uncles making music around the fire, to observing the backstage workings of festivals both here and abroad. Now she is making her own way in the music business.

Aoife moved to the west coast of Ireland several years ago and her passion for the native Irish language spoken there is reflected in her choice of songs. She possesses a voice that reflects the wild western landscape: fragile one minute and forceful the next. That character-laden voice has been quietly generating a buzz amongst her fellow musicians for several years. 

Her work includes prestigious performances with some of Ireland's finest musicians and international acts including Sharon Shannon, Séamus Begley, Cherish the Ladies, Eddi Reader, Pauline Scanlon and of course the Black Family. Hers is the featured voice on the soundtrack of the acclaimed TV series 1916 Seachtar na Cásca, which aired in September 2010, and she has made appearances on the BBC’s Imeall Geal. 

In May 2011, Aoife was selected to feature on a compliation CD in aid of the Rise Foundation. The best of Irish musicians have come together on this unique album: U2, Snow Patrol, Christy Moore, Frances Black, The Coronas, Glen Hansard, Mary Black, Brian Kennedy, Mary Coughlan, Jimmy MacCarthy and  Ciara Sidine.

Recent adventures have brought her to the
London Feis, where she played a support slot to Bob Dylan and Van Morrison, amongst other acts. Over a thousand artists competed for this slot in Fastrack to Feis and Aoife described winning it as “an unbelievable thrill”. 

She had a great time competing in Liet International 2011, a multilingual alternative to the Eurovision Song Contest. She represented Ireland as a country in the competition that took place in November in Udine, in Italy.

Aoife is excited about her soon-to-be-released debut 5-track EP, which includes songs by Don Mescall and Damien Dempsey. In an era when talk is cheap, the assertion of stellar musician Sharon Shannon that the young Aoife Scott is possessed of “a great passion with a fearless attitude” should not be taken lightly.

Raised in the East Yorkshire flatlands on the fringes of Hull (UK), Katie Spencer’s landscape has always been that of open skies and widening rivers. It is this sense of space and movement that flows through her assured guitar style and songwriting. Now, as Katie steps into this new era with a third album, her focus turns to those
deeper inner spaces, inviting the listener to engage with her heartfelt and intricately-crafted songs.

Her writing, and most notably her guitar playing stems from a time when the steel-stringed instrument was truly finding its voice. Artists like Joni Mitchell, Judee Sill, Julie Byrne and perhaps most evidently Michael Chapman, weave into her sound. Katie absorbs these influences into her songwriting and with her distinctive
deep vibrato and crystal-clear guitar style, she makes the music inimitably her own.

Katie will release her third album What Love Is in October 2025; an intimate collection of ten brand-new songs produced by Matt Ingram (Laura Marling, The Staves). Recorded in London’s Urchin Studios and featuring prominent players Giacomo Smith (clarinet), Max Clilverd (pedal steel), Tom Mason (double bass) and Matt Ingram (drums, synth). What Love Is evokes the spirit of Joni Mitchell’s finest later works, always honouring without emulating. Lyrically mature and at times pastoral; the album is melodically sophisticated and unflinchingly honest. She moves effortlessly from wide-open jazz-tinged soundscapes, influenced by
Pharoah Sanders and John Abercrombie, through to the folk-baroque fingerpicking style that her fans admire her for. Her singing is powerful yet warm, true and pristine in delivery. The musicianship throughout the record feels liberated by Katie’s innovation and confidence, and the result is a master-class of inspired and beautiful-sounding craftmanship.

Live, Izzie’s recently opened for artists like This Is The Kit, Jesca Hoop, Matt Deighton, The Brother Brothers (USA), Beans on Toast, played festivals like The Great Escape and Black Deer. Outside of her own music she’s sung on recent releases from Tom Jones and Freddie and The Scenarios (The Vaccines.)
