SET ME UP

As Detroit veteran and one quarter of 3 Chairs, Marcellus Pittman is a true original. He first raised heads on Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature label in 1999, while further releases on Omar S’s FXHE label and his own Unirhythm imprint have become modern classics. Pittman’s work recently featured on a release from Brazilian outfit Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra, and album which comes with a second disc of remixes. A selection of Far Out Records’ favourite Brazilian luminaries and many of Rio’s finest musicians, it enlists remix work from Pittman as well as fellow admirers Theo Parrish, Mark Pritchard, John Morales, Mark E and more.

For Crack Mix 69 the distinguished selector fuses an exhilarating mix of uptempo disco, funk and soul, with a degree of lo-fi crunch. As with much of his work, this one’s peak time fire. More info here: https://crackm.ag/2BtpQFy

CRACK Mix 069 - Marcellus Pittmann

Midland is a quiet and reserved character but one that always makes a big impact. Despite only being active for a few years, he is already someone who resides in the upper echelons of the global house and techno scene. This is evidenced by the fact that as a DJ he plays only the most revered places, and when he does so he manages to reach far and wide, calling upon many different electronic sounds without ever falling prey to modern trends. It is the same when producing on labels like Aus and his own Graded, where his records are functional but fun affairs with corrugated drums, rugged bass and physical grooves that never fail to arrest a dance floor’s attention. This mix he has served up for us is another fine example of that. 

Starting off in an abstract world of atmospheric sound and smeared chords, it’s not long before Midland establishes a groove that then grows in stature for the next hour. Atop the always physical drums are all manner of cosmic melodies, soul fuelled pads and spryly percussive patterns. Touching on house that ranges from dark and mysterious to more sun kissed and playful, this journey feels much long than it is because of how much Midland manages to so masterfully pack in.

End of Summer Balearic Mix

HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!
2015 was a great year for Mayan Warrior at Burning Man… and now we are ready to start spreading the sets that made our week so special.
We start with what was experienced on the sunrise from Thursday to Friday having Rebolledo on the controls. 
The Sci-Fi mood was already set by Barnt who was playing just before, the temperature that night was very low, so honest power and hypnotic vibes were required to flex the muscles and let the mind go leaving  the cold behind… and that´s what was delivered…

This year, while the world as a whole seemed crazier than it has in our lifetimes, in our little corner, it was more beautiful than ever. We continue to feel blessed by the community that surrounds Mister Sunday and Nowadays as a whole, and we continue to be pleasantly dumbfounded that we get to spend our lives immersed in music and creating spaces for people to come together.

Before we close the door on the year, we wanted to share a little more music with you. This is the last two hours from the booth at Contact in Tokyo on Sunday, November 3, 2019.
