Pigs slurping at the trough is what Asbestos Salesman proudly calls 'sludge' or 'slop' music.  Broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Introducing Mixtape on 07/10/2024, and since been played on Totally Wired Radio, Amazing Radio, and the Polyvinyl Craftsmen podcast. 

The song is about the mix of conflict and acceptance that comes with knowing where you are and where you are going, when it clashes with your beliefs and expectations for life. It shines a light on the faces we wear when in dark places, hoarding the secrets we each carry. It's the (almost) title track of the EP 'isle of pigs', and paints the isle's landscape, with a palette drawn from experiences of deprivation, classism, inequality, consumerism, loss and depression.

Dogs Dinner is the second track of Asbestos Salesman's debut album Post-Sludge Post-Britain Post-Slop (release date 18.01.2025)

Its one of the more pared back tracks of the album - featuring just drums, distorted bass, vocals and effects.

Coming in from the left-field, a culturally appropriate evening, is plain satire with its opening monologue, funky bass, and catchy hook when it finally kicks in. 

A criticism of the hypocrisy and privilege of a certain crowd of people that Asbestos Salesman both encounters - with maybe a little self-awareness. That moment where you hear yourself and think, am I really saying this out loud? I am talking absolute shit

Asbestos Salesman doesn't take itself very seriously and loves a bit of parody - and the duo aim to contrast every project with a similar unexpected gearchange in sound and meaning.

This track, inspired by memories of romance on chaotic ill-fated nights out, features the sound of a hammer used on the guitar, creating a sliding wall of sound over a thumping overblown kit, which is then torn apart into looping madness. The pair are currently working on a second album due in late 2025, offering a breath of tainted city air. As night rolls in, the duo find themselves in darker alleyways, up to their elbows in bin juice, scratchcards, and vape pens. At least its all uphill from here, right?

Asbestos Salesman (unsigned) released their debut album 'Post-Sludge Post-Britain Post-Slop' in January 2025, with the song 'pigs slurping at the trough' later played on the BBC Radio 6 Introducing Mixtape. Tracks from their album have since been played on Totally Wired Radio, Amazing Radio, and the Polyvinyl Craftsmen podcast. Asbestos Salesman's second album, 'songs from the deadcut' released on 7th November 2025 and swiftly builds on the momentum of their debut album. Their track 'bagalamb', also released as a single, was played multiple times by BBC Radio 6, on their New Music Fix and Introducing Mixtape shows.

Asbestos Salesman discovered a gritty new sound in 2023 when Jess Siggins began collaborating with Joshua Hixson (gold record holder, producer, and lead member of the Collier and Sleep Well Beast acclaim). This jolt of energy and enthusiam led to the release of the pair's first EP 'isle of pigs' through DistroKid on 19th September 2024.

Based in the coastal city of Southend-on-Sea, these two self-proclaimed pioneers of the 'post-sludge' genre bring sounds of alternative rock and post-punk, injected with visceral synth noise and desolate vocals contrasted with a sardonic humour.

After 6 successful live shows since July 2025, to sold out shows and as support acts, the duo are plotting further gigs for 2026 and beyond.
